Breaking chain

Hi all

I need to split my chain in order to replace the chain guide under the swing arm.
I have an x ring chain without the joining link.

whats the deal here do i split it and replace link with another link the same??
or do i replace it with ya normal chain link?

wouldnt it be easier just to take it off back sprocket you should be able to replace guide with it off rather then breaking

If you don't have a clip link, you must have a rivet link. It will be the link with depressions in the middle of the pins, pushing the sides of the pin out to hold in place. If you don't have a chain breaker you can use the angle grinder method to grind off the link pins and then just replace it with a normal clip link when finished. Be sure you get the correct clip link for the chain that you have, not all 520 chains from DID for example use the same clip link.

taking the chain off rear sprocket doesnt help i need to thread the chain through the new guide unfortunately

or grind off a link and replace with a clippon.

Yep - make sure you buy the correct link before you start the job :yes:

Maybe they are different, but I'm sure the 200exc is actually a u shaped guide
(including the plastic inner) that looks like an O shaped guide once it's all bolted together. Just incase you breake the chain then realise you didn't have to.
