The road is same as last year only the first long straight has been widened and resealed up to and just past the first right bend, still got that nasty bump on that righthander after the dam entrance tho

No one at this stage and the fliers are out.
Its not too late of course but there were no takers to the mailout request and I have limited time to chase people up......and there haven't been any sidecars since 04 IIRC......and blah blah blah LOL
Like I suggested, you should ask Steve Bron to sponsor the class and also enter. That would be very entertaining.

Well its about time that someone started some smack talk !!
Who apart from Gareth E is going to try and take my F3 record ? Huh huh ?
I heard a rumour that Jay Lawrence has procured a K7 Gixxer 1000......is there anyone who can step up and beat that, bearing in mind he holds the record time of 2.09s ?
Current King, Drew Mair only has a dirty old RF900 to compete on but is confident of 2nd place.
So...........let the smack talk begin.

At the risk of sounding like a boring old bastard, I will repeat that this is one of the best "racing" events in New Zealand. If I had more experience I would go as far as to say it is world class. It's true strength is that anyone can come along and have a hoot doing something that most people think is mental. It is only as dangerous as riding a motorcycle on the road is in any other circumstance. In my world that translates into "I'll be right", and it's true. Drew hasn't crashed there yet. The camraderie during the event is great and honestly, anyone can give it a go. It doesn't matter how fast you go, as long as you're in there giving it a go.
It sucks that I can't be there this year.

This is the ONLY "racing" event i do apart from the sprints cliffhanger organise, and every year i am amazed at the amount of people that offer help/advice from riding to setup or just stop to have a chat.

Ok I know people like to hold off until the last minute, but if you are keen to enter, please do so soon.
It takes a lot of stress out of sign in if there are pre entries - mmuch less processing to do.
Also - an MC is needed to announce the riders, plug the sponsors etc.
Is anyone keen to assist, particularly on Sunday 20th ?

1. Yes.....motorcycling public LOL
2. Hillclimb runs start at 10.00am on Sat - I'd suggest the rally starts about this time as well. There are contact details on the attached entry form if you want more accurate info.
3. $25 each or $15 each for people who enter the hill climb. There is a pre booked dinner for $15
The event has not yet had to be cancelled due to inclement weather - it will still be run if damp. Bring your wets if you have em and want to be uber competitive....if its wet of course.

So what time does one need to be there on Saturday to sign up? Yes, I do enjoy my weekend sleep in.
I can't open/upload the entry form - it opens corrupted/unreadable. That doesn't matter since I want to turn up first, check out the competition to see if too many Racers turn up on 600+hp sports bikes with anything other than adventure tyres fitted.
Entering a race with a sports/race focused bike on sports/race/slick tyres is just cheating in my book!
In fact a fair handicap system would be fast bikes with more than 129hp must use diesel.

And I recall you telling me you like to hit the roads early and be home by morning tea ?
I'm sure you will ensure that the Tiger punches above it's weight and surprises a few people. BEARS or Superbike Class ?
Sign on is at 8.00am to 8.30am, but if there is room for more, entries will be received throughout the day.
Strange about the entry form - it was working ok last week.
See ya tomorrow mate. I can't freaking wait !!
I'm sure you will ensure that the Tiger punches above it's weight
Thanks Dean. But it's a fair bit of weight to try and punch above!
Not sure if I can get it race prep'd in time tonight. You know the basic race set up; fit heated handgrips; panniers and topbox.
Well I must be first one home.
That was a lot of fun. Trying to use both sides of the road messes with your head!
Got a bit too hot at times but we sure can't complain about the weather.
Looks like I will have to go back tomorrow to see if I can hang on in there for the BEARS win. I think it's 2/10th of a second between the race spec Tiger and a MV1000 full dress tourer. Better take my mirrors of for another 1/10th
One Rider had a bad off and last I heard he had a wee spell in hospital and is going home tonight, get well. Can't say the same for his bike. Totally munted comes to mind.

Selling your bike a bit short there mate. After the practice, Drew sits fastest on 2.18 on his 95 RF900, Dion Sellers next on 2.21 on his S1000R BMW. I think Deano threw down a 2.23 on his SV which is SPECTACULAR. Luke's around 2.24 from memory.
It aint what ya ride, it's how you ride it.

Cheers. Yeah, I simply ride for the buzz and the Tiger is a very rewarding ride. Are we going to see you tomorrow Jimmy?
How Drew got that sort of speed out of an old RF900 is beyond belief. If that aint enough, let me mention three words...Shinko front tyre! I wouldn't risk a 50kph commute on one of them.
Not that I'm an expert but a road and surface like that (large chip) seems to favour road bikes. If I could have had a blast on one bike that was there that day it would have been the 'soft-ish' road biased Blade (2008+ model). But not with slicks on.

Is that time on the RF correct???? If so, Drew, I give you beer! :gob: I reckon I could lay a 7 min pass down on the Kawasaki if the sack of shit ran.
So I'm told mate, was consistently all I could wring out of it really as it was getting pretty loose on exits. The old girl will be good for a few seconds quicker next year with good tyres.

Im just glad drew didnt catch me on the last run.
A new PB for me but was expecting a little better, will have to hammer the trackdays for next years effort.
Thanks for the setup changes to drew, seemed to work better getting more heat into the tyres.

I'm very impressed, that's getting a boogie on for an old RF!

There is nothing that bike can't do we found out. A true ADVENTURE bike.
Watch out for it next year I have a feeling he misses his title already.

Another great HillClimb weekend. Some very memorable things were experienced and many new Cliffhanger legends were created, on and off track. Needless to say there was some really silly shit going on in the Paddock on Saturday night, not to mention the really funny stuff that went on later when the action moved over to the Rally tent. Thanks to all who organised, helped and participated in this truly unique event, long may it prosper.
