How much mileage can generally be expected from race/track use on a modern bike?

I have an 04 cbr600rr but I don't know if these things all just have a life expectancy. It has 40,000km and I'm wondering if it's just going to blow up before long on the track or maybe mileage actually doesn't mean anything. I have a 06 zx6r with a lot less km but I'd rather crash the 04 cbr if it came to it (which it will).

Who has had a motor blow from simply too many track kms? (2 smokers excluded) and what's the highest mileage people have had on their race/ track machines.

Also, with race use, would the valve clearances need to be checked a lot more regularly?

I know that Kornholio races his '01 gsxr750, with a mere 88000km on the clock. I think he said he has changed the air filter once upon a time.

Dude have a read of the "wanna go racing" thread. If you were chasing that very last HP or two then a pre season freshen is a great thing. But given you are still at the 1.13 stage I'd say the engines the last thing to worry about right now. (other than being sure the oils clean etc). Frankly if you're needing the higher level then you need a bike one generation newer

I'm really not worried about Hp at all... it doesn't even have a slip on, totally stock. I'm just worried about things blowing up that's all.

It's a Honda, you're haven't bypassed the factory rev limit etc so it's working within it's design parameters, so it should be fine, providing you do regular oil and filter changes and monitor shit. An ounce of prevention etc. So do your changes more regularly if you want, and just check the clearances when you should.

OR, you could go to 600rr.net and search there. It is a specific 600RR forum, so if you want to know specific information about your bike you're best to try there first, as maybe only 20 people who post regularly here have this particular bike.

If you just want to announce you are going racing however, start a thread here then.

I just want to know how long people have raced on an engine for with different bikes like the first example of a 88,000 gsxr. Nothing tricky mate.

Won actrix pre89 posties class in 06 on a standard ZXR750. Motor had over 100k on the clock...still on original pistons.

Amazing man, any valve clearance adjustments in that time? Do you know if the power figures it was putting out were any lower?

that is the thing that prevents me getting a track bike. If it will need engine rebuilds all the time then i can't afford it but if i will get a few seasons out of an engine then it is alot more affordable for me so i would consider getting a track bike.

Yes, the valve clearances were done bout round 3, only minor adjustments needed. I did not have the power figures, but down somewhat from the norm for sure, the poor thing had been well abused before I got to it too. Still fast enuff to win though.
