Perusing my maps of France today in readiness for my visit there and to the....eatyerheartsout....Voxan factory next month, and I discover a place called Condom!!! I can just see the sign....
"ADIEU DE CONDOM
Veuillez venir encore"
Farewell from Condom, please come again. :killingme
Anybody got any other ones for our amusement? http://www.voxanclubdefrance.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/new_color_.gif

Dont' forget Woolongong. or some other rediculous spelling
I particularly like Hamihole, just next to Cambridge in the North Island, of New Zealand (part of Australia, an island somewhere remote)
It's funny because it sounds like a meat, and describes the city (a hole) :motu:

Do you mean Whatipu (is there such a place?) or perhaps MANUREwa?
Some of you are missing the point a bit here (intentionally too), I mean real place names. There are surely some real crackers in England but France has go a few too. One place is called the equivalent of the colloquial term for nude and apparently it has a good restaurant, customers go out of their way to "dine nude". Wonder if sausages & eggs and beaver are on the menu.

So far in the UK I have come across Upper and Lower Dicker, Cockpull and Six Mile Bottom. Then there are always the Norfolk Broads and The Wash. For unpronouncable names, Wales is the king. Aberystwyth is one of the easiest in the entire place.
Also on the odd side, Costessey, pronounced Cossey and Wymondham, pronounced Windham.

Well thers, Watapu, Waipu, Lake Titikaka, and I think England has a Grumble Bottom.
Unfortunate last names, Ramsbottom, Ballbag, Kuntz, Blackballs, Dick (as in "do you have the time on ya Dick?), Fanny, and I had to keep a straight face when I met a Wigglebottom. Sorry to offend any one out there.
Oh, the manager of M.S.L. Was a Richard Head. (Richard, aka: Dick)

Ruakaka translates roughly to "two turds"
There's the fictional but funny waikikamukau, say it aloud
try writing the abbreviated name for pukekohe in a text. Eg.
"What are you up to today?"
"Going to pukekohe for a while"
