View Full Version : Where can I park for Eden Park matches?

So I'm taking my son to our ever first Rugby game this weekend and need to know where I can street park that's not too far from the ground.
Radio and local papers make out that it's difficult to take the car and suggest the free buses, but lad is only 7 and don't fancy being stuck miles from home late at night with thousands of other people waiting for buses.

Any thoughts from those that go to Eden Park regularly and some hints on the best parking areas would be grateful.

It is a bit of a bitch to be honest, Eden Park is smack in the middle of suburbia with a lot of the surrounding homes using the roads for their parking and the immediate blocks being marked as no parking.... A lot of it depends on how big the crowd is and how early you get there.

I'd personally try around Prospect Tce / Burnley Ave and the streets just south of these.

Has been a while since I've been to a rugby game there (so I'm happy to bow to more recent experience) but I did used to live in the area about 6 years ago.

TBH, I'd aim to park in Newmarket and hop the train from there.

The restricted parking area will be published in the herald, so keep your eyes open for that.

but I believe that Elizabeth st (off Dominion Rd) will be outside that exclusion zone and is only 10-15 mins walk from the park.

Went there once and parked right across from the Stadium at some student dudes place, cant remember how much, wasn't much. They sat on a couch outside the whole day and wathed over the vehicles. There was about five in the driveway.

Yep just drive as close as you dare and look for someone selling parking on their lawn.

As students (back in the 90's) we flatted on Cricket Ave right opposite the eastern terraces gate and sold car parks for $5 a pop. Also sold hotdogs too and made a killing.
Lots of people around there do it - easy money.

During the world cup, the closest park will be Hamilton.

Best bet is the other side of Dominion Road and walk through. The traffic can be an absolute bastard when the game is over, the side streets acorss Dom Road have always worked out well whenever I have driven there.

Ha ha, well we got free tickets and I promised him a Blues game and a Warriors game this year. Tis going to be a busy weekend for the wee one as I'm taking him to Paeroa on Sunday as well - first time not on my bike! Took him to Puke about 2 years ago when he was 5 - the noise made him cry and he then started flicking stones onto the pitlane exit:facepalm:

Theres a little bit of parking at the top of Bond Street - but would imagine thats taken up quick.

I would look parking around the side streets surrounding Red Baron MC, Then walk up Bond Street/Sandringham Rd. Plenty of people walk up that way.

We walk from home in Ponsonby so couldnt vouch for how safe your car will be from goons etc.

I've got tickets to the Oz Wales game tonigh and are taking #2 spawn.

I've checked Mr Google and are none the wiser on parking.

Is there any m'cycle parking?

If not, where is the best place to park my bike?

My plan is to ride the fan trail as much as I can, then park the bike and go to the ruggers with the squid.

I'll scout on the way home as well.
