Always wanted to get your motorcycle licence but don't know where to start?

Before you can legally ride on the road you will need to hold a NZ Motorcycle Licence. To achieve this you will need to do these in order:

1. - Pass a Basic Handling Skills Test (http://www.ridertraining.co.nz/573/index.html)
2. - Apply in person to an NZTA Agency
3. - Pass a Roadcode Theory Test

Upon passing you will be issued with a NZ Motorcycle Learners Licence.

Where do I learn to ride a Motorcycle and/or pass a BHS test?

Rider Training specializes in BHS testing and training.
We are based in Albany on the North Shore and have a spacious and safe training ground. Best of all, we supply the motorbikes to learn on! :woohoo:

INTRO (http://www.ridertraining.co.nz/594.html)
This package is designed for the completed novice in mind - no previous experience necessary. This also includes the BHS test.

Do you take in students with no prior motorcycle experience? By no experience, I mean really no experience (never been on a bike)..

Yes we do. Either be a person with zero experience on 2 wheels to someone who rides a dirt bike every weekend - you can achieve your BHS cert with us!

I just looked at your website - the "full monty" looks great, and the one-on-one training is a great idea.
I am bringing a friend to do her BHS with you next month and look forward to seeing how you guys do it!

Hi, Im a 40+ that has not ridden since I was a teenager. And then it was for about 3 months on a dual bike so a little off road. So I understand how to ride. But As ive not ridden for so long dont back myself to just turn up and pass the test. I have been riding mountain bikes in downhill and jumping etc so know I can handle the balance etc. Which course would be best for me?

As well as teaching students how to ride / or test for the basic handling skills, onroad coaching prep for Restricted / Full Licence

We also have a brand new GN125 as a demo bike and will have it available on most of our training dates. Available to our students to try before they buy!

The GN125 is in the Suzuki Summerfest and a new one can be yours for as little as $1895 + Onroad Costs (until the 31st March 2012 or while stocks last). Great little bike for those on a budget or just want a cheap first bike / commuter. I have ridden this bike home from Colemans Suzuki and was very impressed at how well it goes for a 125cc.

Finally started the groundwork on our new property in Henderson (after the council mucked us around) - will be the only purpose built Motorcycle training grounds in Auckland.

Hope to pour the concrete next week...

You can book in at anytime you like once you have done your CBT1 Resticted Test to sit your CBT2 Full Licence Test. Just got to hold onto Certificate for 12 months of your Resticted time has been completed then present it ;)

ok thanks, if that is true though you may want to re-word your website:

http://www.ridertraining.co.nz/573.html

"CBT2 Restricted - Full

To do a CBT2 Assessment Test you must have had your 6R (Restricted Motorcycle) for at least 12 months."

which differs from the description of the CBT1:

"You can complete a CBT1 Assessment Ride any time after attaining your Learners."

bit confusing, maybe there is a catch somewhere.

Either way I'm gonna book in for the 12th :)

Did my Basic Handling Through these guys and it was top notch :) Went in there with no experience and at the end felt confident in being able to ride a bike to an extent.

When you go there prepare to have fun and a few laughs. Would definitely recommend to others and will be doing my CBTA's through these guys.

I'm looking at getting my BHC through you guys after new year - gives me more time to practice!
So I'm looking at doing the refresher but just wanted to check I'm up to par.. I previously rode a quad and this is my first bike, I've got the clutch down good and can even hill start on a good day (but I feel like a learner car driver so need more exp there!) and I can lean into turns okay, make sure I'm braking BEFORE the corner etc.. the main things I have issues with is doing a corner at speed - as I haven't had the balls to try, top speed so far is something like 15kph and I have done a couple in 2nd but due to slow speeds usually drop down again to 1st.. better safe than sorry on my ass.

In terms of the test I'm practicing all the exercises needed and the figure 8s are probably the only area I have issues with. Will that be okay or should I keep ripping apart the Albany parking lots - since it is startlingly quiet this time of year

We have 1200watt LED floodlights around the premises so we can do Basic Handling Packages and Testing/Training in the evenings Monday-Friday from 3pm to 10:30pm at night, as well as weekends Saturdays/Sundays 7am-7pm at more convenient hours for our clients in big open spaces that are learner friendly/safe

So why use Ridertraining.co.nz?

You can do your whole Motorbike Licence with us Learners Licence (Basic Handling Test) Restricted CBT1 Test only or Training/practice/package and Full licence Test only or Training/practice/package/Test with friendly Instructors :-)

We specialise in teaching total beginners how to ride

You can book and pay on the day. We don't try to grab your money by asking upfront before letting you know where our training ground is. (However we do have an option of paying via Bank Transfer if you wish, our bank details are on our Website.)

We only do 1 on 1 Training with the student (unless specified otherwise). We are not into 'group therapy' of up to 4-6 students at a time, (as the student isn’t getting a good deal of time with the Instructor).

Our "commitment and promise" to all who use us as a Premier Riding School to get their motorcycle Licence is, we won't yell / growl / abuse / throw items at the student and it will always be a relaxed, fun, safe but fair environment to learn in.

We DO NOT use remote controls on our Training Motorcycles (to shut them down if something goes wrong). As a student you do not learn anything by this. We will teach you how to save yourself properly - when you do venture out onto the road you will know how to control the Motorcycle, not the Motorcycle control you.

Our Motorcycle training bikes are fun to ride - we have a fleet of Yamaha Trickers 250cc and for the shorter people (<5 ft 2 or by choice) we have 3 Suzuki GN125cc Motorbikes as well.

You are always welcome to drop in, say hello and see the Purpose built training Training Facilities and how the BHS is done.
