You should do what you want to do. The only person to stop yourself is you.

Do it! :)

My Mother rode her Triumph the day after I was born, to town to do the shopping.

I'm with Straightjacket.

In hindsight I wished I hadn't sold my bike and stopped at the time...lots more useful thoughts and opinions from other ladies on this thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/60710-Riding-as-a-new(ish)-mum...)

If you don't need the money. Keep it. Hubby can babysit and you can go riding. Its really healthy to still maintain your interests....... Just cause you're having a baby, doesn't mean life should stop for you  :scooter:

Aha, do I suspect a milf alert???? heeheehee

Like the others have said, it's up to you. I'd be more concerned about your physical recuperation after childbirth taking priority, but I'm sure you don't need me to point that out! First bub? Childbirth reeeeeeeeaaaaallllllly takes it out of you. I could barely walk the 15 minute walk up to my local shops two weeks after giving birth to my first. Then again I might just be a pussy. Speaking of which, remember it will be tender for a while and a bike saddle ain't exactly a gel cushion...

Keep the bike, you don't know if you will be able to afford to replace it later.
Anyway, I am sure you will miss it too much if you give it up. You need to have a hobby and this will be a good fun way to let off steam.

I'm sorry, but I had to change the title of this thread. Every single time I saw it the MILF type riding went through my head

I've Just had a bub and I am planning to go for at least an hr ride hopefully this weekend, while bub has her afternoon nap and dad can babysit! She was born 2 weeks ago. Physically I feel pretty good, so I think its up to the individual. Don't sell your bike if you love it. I ain't, my fiancee is a hunter and i love motorbikes we have a healthy compromise. I won't put my foot down about him going hunting and he won't put his foot down about me riding LOL..... He did suggest that I'm not allowed to ride untill he has put a speed limiter in it (jokingly) since I haven't been on it since november :( But I am soo looking forward to getting back on it again!

Hi ya
keep the bike and keep an eye out for battery operated little bikes with the foot pedal so as soon as the little one is able get them on it and before you know it as it does go pretty fast they will be hitting the trails with you in tow moving up from jr50 to wanting your 250
Honda kids clubs are also an excellent thing to keep in mind for the trail bike families.

As long as your partner can keep the engine turned over by going for rides on it there's no need to sell it unless you need the xtra money.
I went 20+ yrs without a bike because of having children and never thought to this day that after all this time that l could get back into them. Both on Road and on the Race Track.
Whatever your decision l'm sure it will be the right 1 for you.
Goodluck.

I grew up riding dirt & trail bikes, always had a bike from aged 15 to 29yrs when I sold my XL500S when 7 mths pregnant with my 1st born....
That was one of the saddest days of my life - watching that bike head down the road....:crybaby:

17 long long years later I brought another bike & thats when I realised just how much I need to ride bikes! it just makes all of life better,& nothing else does it for me:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

7 fantastic years later I have 3 awesome bikes:love:

Dont sell your bike chick!

Midwife's opinion.... depends how sore you are after having baby. If it was a c-section then it'll be around 2 months before you gain comfortable mobility. no stitches at all you could be riding within the month... dirt bike that is ;)
most would say, just whenever you comfortable enough to do it yourself

I'd say keep the bike lol.....

well i finally popped :) but it was by emergency c section :( so thats me written off for another 6 months even though i feel great considering im only 12 days from the c section i would get on my bike right now if i was aloud haha but i think i will have to bite the bullet and let it go coz i cant stand seeing it sit there and i walk past it every time i go to the loo lol i also dont want it to go to waste not being ridin so if any1 is interested there will be a post up in the 4 sale section :)

Congratulations from me too :sunny:

However..... are you SURE you want to ditch the bike? I would give it just a leeettle bit longer before you decide.... who knows in 6 months you could be absolutely hanging out for a ride and be well over nappies and babies and the HOUSE!!
I ride dirt not road, and although I did have a couple of months bike free after my last bub arrived OMG I was gagging for it (the bike ppl the bike) :scooter:

anyhoo awsome that your wee one arrived safe and well

Late in, but I say keep it and get out there as soon as you are ready!!!

I wouldnt wait more than a few weeks, but after a c-sec maybe 6-8 weeks for the tissue to heal and you should be good to go hahaha
I guess it depends on your body - which only you can know!
I'll ride/skate fairly fast after injuries but I tend to heal fast.... Whereas others may need a bit more time to get it together.
It also depends on your labours...
My DD had me in bed for 18 hours before I was able to even get up, but I went out shopping for most of the day I had my son...I even fed him while walking through Farmers hahahaha..... so different babies can leave you feeling totally different!

I do recommend a good maternity bra if you ride while BF cause man alives that was my biggest hassle - sore boobs from the bouncing hahahaha

My lady started riding again 6 weeks after the birth by C section - the only thing stopping her sooner was doctor's advice and a very slight mental block along the lines of "but i'm a mum now what if something happens...." You can get run over crossing the road or die in a plane crash - you have to just live your life doing what makes you happy
