Perhaps it's lipstick rubbing off (http://nz.news.yahoo.com/a/-/mp/8875144/oral-sex-linked-to-cancer-risk/) :shifty:... i'm selflessly putting myself forwards as a test subject... i think it worth the risk, so that you can all have safe oral sex in the future... goodbye cruel world :woohoo:

Yeah, I read this today too. Highest levels amongst white males. The connection they've made though is rather tenuous. No actual evidence. Just as likely to be daily use of mouthwash that's causing it for all they know.
I for one will continue to muff dive until I am provided with proof thankyou very munch..... opps, I mean much.

Without putting too much of a damper on this thread I have to say I know more about this virus than I should. It caused my Mothers cervical cancer and while she was "cured" the side effects of the treatment eventually killed her.
Ten days before she died my brother was diagnosed with throat cancer. It was caused by the HPV virus.

He has had chemo and radiation treatment, an incrediably awful thing to endure. He was given an all clear at his initial after treatment visit, but is under monthly checks to make sure it stays away. He is only just able to eat again, tube feeding is apparently well over rated.
Take care out there folks.

And at the risk of being flamed to death, or at least scolded severely... does he ride a Honda  (perhaps that'll raise a smile from him, or a beating for me at a later date :shit:)

Sorry I was so flippant how  best wishes to your brother and trust hes gets better soon..
What I was digging out is that we were taught about condoms and genital VD (to use the speak of the time) but no one mention oral risks whilst that article made it sound a little bit as if it was common knowledge that the yoof chose to ignore. Makes one a bit angry that more isn't said about the risks.

The medicos are good like that. I had no clue about HPV or any other damn thing as a randy yoof. Was never even told of the oral aspect of sex, let alone what dangers lay in store in the indulging of such delights, until I experienced them. Herpes is another one that we never knew about until it was too late for some.
We could not have known of HPV, for it was not talked about. It is a really recent (25 years or so recent) thing in anycase. My brother is about to turn 50, so do the maths. All you guys need to know is, look out for a persistant sore throat, accompanied by enlarged lymph glands in your neck. Grab it fast, it is treatable
There by the grace of God go I.

Perhaps you could rephrase that to read:
"Makes one a bit angry that more isn't listened to about the risks".

nah, perhaps I'm too :innocent: but oral has been portrayed as safe sex. I have read the throat cancer stuff when they started reporting it, even suggesting the injects to cut it down, suspect the other stuff but no-one was talking about other sexually transmitted infections being orally transmitted. Like Mom said oral sex was even mentioned as being a sexual option. Thanks Hugh for Playboy :woohoo:
