Just thought I'd throw this up nice and early...
Organising a bunch of roadie puff mates from work to hit Thundercross on various rented bikes, plus a crew of regular dirt riders for the 5th of March. If everyone who has said yes so far turns up, there'll be about 15 of us, so will be a good crowd.
Anyone on here who fancies joining in with the motley bunch I've scraped together, you're more than welcome.

No probs with the skills, or lack of, a couple of guys are dirt virgins, one hasn't sat on a bike for 15 years and even a couple of the more experienced guys aren't exactly fast...

Bumpsicles...
We're going to be there from around 10.30 to 3ish, you know what these road puffs are like, can't handle more than a half day of hard work.

Hi Jay, as a dirt riding virgin this could be a good opportunity for me to try out the whole dirt bike thing if I can wangle it. How much does it cost and can you hire bikes and gear out there?

For hire, it's $150 for a half day (which is about all you'll manage as a dirt noob), which includes bike, fuel, ride pass and all the gear (helmet, boots, pants, jersey and gloves). You get a choice of DRZ250 or 400.
Only problem is... it's predicted to start raining tonight and will rain the rest of the weekend. I called James at Thundercross and he strongly recommends that if it does rain, we don't go. Not a problem for me, but there's a few very inexperienced riders in our group who will just spend the day picking DRZs up out of the soft clay. Thundercross is not fun when it's wet!
I'm hoping it will stay clear, but for those in the group who own bikes, we have a contingency plan of heading to Woodhill if it's raining. Will post on here early tomorrow AM if anyone was thinking of joining us at either...

Thanks for the reply Jay, stuffed my ankle at footy practice last anyway and it's probably not up to riding tomorrow.
If you end up postponing due to rain let me know if you re-schedule or plan it again as I'd be well up for it.
Cheers

Just called Thundercross and it's raining, with severe weather warnings for tomorrow... and that puts an end to that plan. So those of us that own bikes are hitting Woodhill instead.
I'm sorting out a new date at the moment for Thundercross, if you PM me an e-mail addy I can keep you in the loop.
