Does anyone have a set of good cans that sounds good/throaty for my Hornet 900 that does not need re-jetting, at reasonable price? The originals are too quite for comfort....

I have a set that Custom Chambers made up (East Tamaki). Specc'd so that the heat shields go back on afterwards, making it look very stock, but a little louder.

I've got some scorpion ones on mine (installed by a previous owner). They've got removable baffles so at a pinch you can make them louder or quieter depending on your preference. They sound mean.

I did a test ride on a hornet 900 with twin remus cans that sounded awesome.

I had these on mine; http://www.emoto.co.nz/GPRslipons01-01-450.jpg

Met the requirements well and the carbon fibre ones definitely looked good, gave it much sportier look than the brushes aluminium/steel whathaveyou look.

Came with the bike so I could'nt tell you what they cost.

Goblins Hornet has a Two Brothers 4-1 sound pretty good and saves more weight.

Cheaper too, I would imagine.

Take a 50mm hole saw to the plate on the back of your standard mufflers. Once it's through, smack the little pipe in the middle with a hammer quite hard and then pull them out.

Costs nothing, and they sound bloody great without being too loud.

If noise isn't a primary concern and ya know someone handy with a welder, this is what I did to mine.

I'm running Yoshimura tri-ovals on mine - love em - I imported them from the USA.

Unless you are purchasing from Custom chambers, Neptune or the Welly one I forget buy ex USA and save a fortune. Or England.

Here's is a few links for you, add shipping (if USA around US$100).

www.starcycle-usa.com search for Honda 919 several options here.

www.blueflameperformance.com I have seen a set of these on another ride and they are nice pipes.

Value for $ and reviewing well in the USA for the Hornet (AKA 919).
Search for Delkevic - they will be listed on ebay - seriously cheap but the real thing from reports I've read.

Or you can do a Bafflectomy on your stock pipes - I did mine before my Yoshis and it is very successful at releasing a bit of noise and cost bugger all. It involves taking a hole-saw to the end of your muffler and removing the pathetic little outlet. If you are interested in this let me know and I'll dig up some images.

Give Damon a call he'll design your style or sell you a set that look standard (ie, covers etc) but are no way standard inside :innocent: I'm on my 2nd Hornet and 2nd set of Cycleworks mufflers. About $600 or so - why the f&ck would you pay $1400??!!!!!:shit:

That's an interesting "pattern" on your clutch case Drew . . . :shit:

THis is what Damon at Cycleworks did for my sons Nija 250 - AWESOME!! You should see how he built the muffler between the headers and the engine block - the man's a genius. Imagine something like this out the side of the Hornet . . . :gob:

We have had two Hornet 900's, a GSXR and a FXR done at cycleworks.
I highly recommend them.

I never bothered on my previous Hornet. I saw one with scorpion cans on and didn't sound that much different to the factory cans. I thought the factory cans were quiet good on their own.

I say if you want good throaty sound to just buy a V Twin, that's what I did.

That's an interesting "pattern" on your clutch case Drew . . . :shit:I customised that bad boy! If you have a close look, you'll notice that it's missing an engine mount bolt, because the stupid oggy knobs mean that the force of the fat bastard falling over snaps the engine casing!

Do not put oggy knobs on a hornet, there is another brand that mounts away from the motot and actually protects it. Strange concept I know.
