DATE: Saturday March 19th.
LEAVE TIME: 10:30am from the Cock and Bull Maui St Te Rapa.
ARRIVAL TIME: 11:30 am at the Muddy Waters Tavern in Mercer
DONATION: $10 per Bike
With tributes and support coming in from around the world, now is the time to show how much we care about our own.
There are thousands of Kiwis in Christchurch that need assistance now more than ever.
A cash donation from bikers in the North Island will indeed help some of those who are going through desperate times.
All we are asking for is a $10 donation from each Bike.
Donations to made on the day but if you cant make it or would prefer, a bank account number is avaliable below.
The Appeal funds collected will be forwarded to the Salvation Army Earthquake appeal.
Bank account for donations if you can't attend the ride - Use CHCH Quake as the reference please and add your online name.

Will the ride take in other roads, or is it just a short run up from Te Rapa up HW1 to Mercer?

I'm open to suggestions. My original thoughts were to head straight up SH1 to Mercer then people can go on from there whichever way they feel comfortable with. The main reason for heading straight up was to try and keep everyone together (for looks I spose) but as I said, I'm open to suggestions and maybe we can get an indication from people attending as to what they would like to do.

I agree with your words Shayne, take the Westpac ride for example, its a case of getting a bunch of bikes to a destination as quickly and as safe as possible. From there, people have all afternoon to enjoy back roads.

Its all about what we can do from here. We would be in there with spades and shovels if we could.
This is our way of showing support from this end of the country as best as we can.
It should be a good turnout and hoping the media covers the event to showcase our support.

Sweet. The more the merrier.
We will travel up SH1 to Huntly, have a regroup just north of Huntly if required (due to lights etc.), then on up to Mercer. (if we can get authorities help with traffic control, might not need to stop)
Afterwards, riders can make there own way homewards from there.

Also, the Cock n Bull will be open from 9-30am for tea, coffee and toilets. May be hot chips or something for brekky if needed (not 100% sure on this brekky tho), but at the moment I am greatfull to Cock n Bull management for opening early for us. They have said anything for a good cause.
Damn good reason to go back later for a brew and a bite to eat I say.

Anyone know where to get some red and black stuff to wear on the ride?
or cheap canterbury flags to fly?
Would need to be in Hamilton.
The AUK thread mentions they are flying flags and wearing red and black. Bloody good idea I thought.

Ribbon?...Just bought a roll of each colour. Warehouse didn't have any, had to ask a lady where to get some in town...
I will attempt to platt/lace (or what ever its called) the two together and then wear as an arm band. Also have some on the bike.
