Hi there, sorry if this is the wrong forum, but here goes. Please excuse the incoming wall of text.

Ok so I've had my motorbike license for about 6 months and am worried about a couple of things with my scooter. Any help is appreciated

First strange thing. Started about 3 months ago and noticed it when moving my scooter while it was off. Every rotation of the wheel it made a small squeaking noise. I paid no attention to it but it started getting worse and worse and now it's at the point where it sounds like the wheel is scraping against something constantly instead of squeaking.

Also when I'm riding my scooter, if the scooter is positioned directly upright, there is no issue. But as soon as I lean into a corner, a loudish whirring sound comes from somewhere, I'm pretty sure the front wheel. The more I lean in to a corner, the louder the whirring gets.

Okay second problem. My scooter is auto, Now I don't know whether this is a problem or not or whether I'm just more used to the bike but yeah. Whenever i take off or keep the throttle low when going slowly, the bike judders quit a lot.

Also if I've slowed down or braked, or gave the bike no throttle, if i put the throttle back on, the bike will jerk really hard, like if you accidentally shift down into 1st instead of 3rd while travelling at speed in a car. Like a big lurch. To stop this from happening I have to hold the back brake, and then get the bike revs up to match my speed and then let go of the brake so the bike doesn't majorly lurch.

I was maybe thinking that if i don't give the bike throttle for like 6 or 7 seconds it thinks I've come to a stop or something so it goes into neutral, and then when I give it some gas it has to suddenly put itself into gear and then lurches. Some people have said my clutch may be cracked? I'm not sure how I would have managed to do this, I do not thrash my bike..

Sorry for big wall of text, any help for a motorbike rookie would be appreciated. Model is Suzuki an-125 if anyone is interested.

ps. How hard is it to tighten/stiffen your suspension?

When you say it squeaks when the wheel turns is that without the engine running?Do you have any brake pads left?

Any how skim reading your post, id also check was the belt.Remove the sort of oval shape cover, from the engine to the rear wheel. There no oil in there, id guess a very loose belt as possible cause, of your second problem.Theres a clutch and a variator in there as well, you may see a obvious problem with them.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think it is the brakes that are the issue. About 1000ish kilometers back I took it to a mechanic and told him the first problem, and that maybe it might be the brakes. I came back and he said there was nothing wrong with the brakes, and then proceeded to charge me $100.

Thats why I'm keen to find out the problem before going to a mechanic, so they don't charge me money for not fixing the problem.

So yeah I don't think it will be the brakes. At first it squeaked on 1 wheel rotation, then it started squeaking more till it was squeaking the whole way round, and now there is no more squeaking from the front but a kind of grinding/scraping noise..

Thanks for the reply. The scooter is a Suzuki AN-125. That's good to hear, if the problems engine related its usually massive $$$ right?

Front wheel noises sound a bit like a stuffed wheel bearing, especially if it changes when you lean it over.

The other problem sounds like a grabby clutch, don't know enough about that model to tell you how to fix it though.

Ah ok now that I double check the receipt it is not as bad as I thought. He charged $100 for a service and the brake check including $25 worth of parts he used.

Things he checked which might be related to the problem were - Brakes, Bushes, Cables, Oil, Steering, and Wheel BGS and none had problems

Things he did not check were - Chain, Cam Chain, Wheel Alignment, Points, Tappets

Maybe this helps eliminate some potential issues? Sorry I can't be more helpful I'm a complete newbie
