Yep. That was from a 600 supersport race a few years back. The Yamaha blew laying down oil all over the place.

I remember it well

No idea, but someone should've been waving those oil flags much earlier. (it seems after the first bike 'blows' that it took a while for before the last bike went down.)

Anyone remeber the 500cc GP where Kevin Shwantz (sp) grabbed the flag from a marshall and started waving it.

yeah.. 2003 supersport series from memory in one of the European rounds. The guy who just escaped with his head was Jorg Teuchert I think. Life changing moment I would've thought

Duck??? He was still in motion - absolute fluke - must have used up about 5 years accumulated good luck in that millisecond. Good thing the left side of the bike fell on him too.
...right side = super hot exhaust + scared to approach safety marshalls =

Looks like it might've been the Silverstone round judging by these results and looking at the number of retiree's on laps 2 and 3.

Lets hear it for inflatable barriers huh?
Shame Pukekohe can't be that organised/financed for the bike races

Assen 2003.
Are you sure? (http://sbk.perugiatiming.com/calendario.asp?p_S_Campionato=SSP&p_Anno=2004#)

the original video post on Up on One was in August 2003. Assen wasn't run till October. Not enough crashes then either (looked at least 3 bikes in two laps) judging by the results page

It is Assen no doubt i remember watching it, was quite some time ago, before 2003 i think, its in the braking zone going into the chicane and even on a 600 they are approching at near on 230kph, last time i raced there i was near on 260kph coming out of the left hander with the back end stepping out and spining in a major way, just hauled it up in time to block Rossi into the chicance and take the win, highlight of my season, love PS2.

Lucky dude, almost lost his fucken head. Good thing for those saftey barriers, they seem to do a great job provided a 160kg+ doesn't fly into you.

havent seen the clip, but if i am thinking of the same crash it was yamaha christian kellner's r6's that popped and it was back in mid(ish) 2003 and he slid off the track and into a big blow up barrier and was just missed by his bike
is this the same one?- cant remember where it happened though
