My wife has kicked (was a reaction more than anything) the side of a car before as a pillion, probably felt good at the time but, oh the pain afterwards..hand gestures and a gob full would create the same feel good with less ''omg why did I do that'' later in the day.

Contradiction I think. Technically if you never wanted to do it, you wouldn't need self control. If you had the urge, and stopped yourself, that would be self control.
