It has been a while since on kb and I sold my NZ bike (Bandit) a while ago. Still have the street triple and love it for riding around Brissy. I am looking for a different bike for NZ and just don't know what to buy. Money is not a problem, within reason, so looking for a new or near new.
My NZ riding is a mix of local trips, trips Palmerston N to Wellington and some longer and spirited weekend rides. I plan on a few trips up to Auckland. I do not ride on gravel or crap roads but do ride all weathers. I don't like cruisers so in for a sports or sports tourer with wind/weather protection but not a heavy tourer. I am just a light weight lass but do have longish legs.

What is the ultimate sports - sports tourer bike for this lass. I only want to own one bike so what I buy has to do it all. :bleh:

ktm smt or enduro or 690 duke or superduke. take your pick by preference and/or do you need a mid (690) or big (990).

(lol ended that thead PDQ)

if coming thru wgtn talk to 'white trash' on here, he will look after you (for ktm's or yams).

FZ6/R or 1/R might be an option if you don't like orange.

Would suggest a Sprint or 1250 Bandit myself.

Thanks - that is nice. My legs are not that long though and I found a triumph tiger was too tall at 835 whereas the ktm smt has a seat height of 855.

Methinks the Sprint is well lower.

in that case i def recommend looking at fz's or tenere's (depending whether you pref road or dual)

factory site says sprint is also 835. worth the tippy toes sacrifice though i reckon, it's a v beautiful machine.

imo nothing is the same after being lowered/tampered with. best get something that fits right off the bat.

shame the smt is too tall that's for sure.

back to the fz's?

I found the tiger too tall but sprint was okay. Triumph list seat heights: tiger 835, sprint st 820, sprint gt 815.

After almost buying a sprint st I rode a Hayabusa and decision was made. BTW hayabusa seat height 805 - perfect for me.

If only one bike I can't see anything better than the Hayabusa - I am off course biased. The ZX14, F800 ST and GSX1250FA are worth considering based on what Cindy wants

Thanks for the help so far. There is plenty of choice and coming off a Bandit 600 and other bike being a Street Triple my concern is weight in a larger bike. Could I handle a larger bike - getting off side stand etc? I don't want a girls bike but something that will be an easy ride on the long runs.

FZ6R. Stunning comfort, low seat height, nice and light and lower rego fees. I love the fricken thing, so does my partner Sue and she's owned SV650 and R6.

How about a VFR? 1200 or 800 depending on cashflow and how much you enjoy the... er... interesting styling direction they took with the 1200.

Seat height is 805mm for the 800 and 815mm for the 1200.

I am now thinking of a VFR1200. This seems to tick all the boxes and will have the Honda reliability. I guess I need a test ride.

Thanks for the help.
