Hi people,
I have a question for you, would you sell your bike soon if you lived in Christchurch? I am going to sit my restricted license soon and then am keen to sell my bike, but are people even looking for a learner/commuter 250 with how shagged Chch is right now? I am not keen to keep my bike over the winter, but if it is more realistic to keep it over the winter and sell it again in the spring then that's something I just may need to do.
I realise that people still need vehicles in this situation but it isn't like I'm selling a Toyota Corolla.
Thanks in advice for all your advice/suggestions.

Just put it on trademe and see what happens. If you dont like how the auction goes then dont sell and wait until spring. If it goes well then sell and buy the bigger bike of your dreams.

All our opinions mean shit, unless some of us are looking to buy.
There is only one way to find out, and that is by letting the market decide.

It might sound cynical but retail stores are encouraging people to NOT stop spending on junk by "giving" something to Christchurch with each purchase (Look at lotto).
You have the right to say 100% of the purchase price of you bike will go to a quake victim.

There was a lot more interest in my bike after the earthquake and sold quickly, it was a dual purpose bike so was the vehicle of choice around town given the road conditions. Go for it, you can just relist for as long as it takes on trademe without it costing more.

Oooo, I like that idea.

If you have a good bike that runs well and you intend continuing to ride next year, then selling it will be a mistake.
If it's a pile of crap and you want to replace it anyway, then SELL SELL SELL

She's a pretty solid wee bike, but a few circumstances have arisen so selling it is a pretty tempting option once on the restricted. I would probably save up over this year and get a bigger/newer bike once the money is there.

People might be spending to get back on their feet (or wheels?) after their vehicle was damaged...

A dual purpose would be awesome at the moment, especially in those eastern suburbs. The only thing about constantly relisting is that people start to think that there is something wrong with the bike. Either that or the price is too high I guess.
