"takes about 5 times longer to boil a pot than the induction. Argh. "
That's what I like about the gas hob - fast.
Never used an induction.

Gas hob
lectric oven
Gas BBQ
Gas is good - you can keep cooking when the power goes out. Unless the line breaks and it all explodes of course.

Just to be clear, my understanding is that a stove is a freestanding unit that has both an oven and a cooktop. Whereas a cooktop/hob is a seperate item as is an oven. Yeah, I know, I am a pendantic fucker!
You think that is bad, try to find out the definition of a bungalow! No-one will be able to tell you, incl real estate agents!

I prefer gas. It gets the spotting knives up to temperature the fastest.

Gas hob, once you get used to it you will never go back.
My oven crapped out about 2 years ago, still works on grill, but is now basically redundant.

we've got a gas hob and electric oven.
If we can afford it I would like to replace them and the extractor this year. Particularly the extractor. Protip: if you have a 600 wide hob, get a900 wide extractor hood.
Dont buy Smeg, ours is a piece of crap.

gas cook top - electric oven
I prefer cooking on gas as the heat is more controlable .. but I don't like the idea of naked flames in Gas ovens (dunno what is happening with the gas, the burnt gas ansd the food) so I've always had an electric oven.
Before we moved recently, we had a wood stove - which was great to cook with ...

Ceramic cooktop.
I pulled out the stove and installed the hob and an underbench oven. Much nicer.

It was a term invented in England by a bunch of brummie brick layers. They ran out of bricks on a house and said "bung-a-low roof on it!".

A stove is an oven + Cooktop in one unit
A Cooktop it exactly what its called a COOK TOP
An oven would be just an oven no cooktop attached.

I've never ever said "cook it on the cooktop", always; "cook it on the stove".....correct or not that's just what I was brought up with I guess....
Same as hoovering. I've never called it that, always vacuuming.

Had a Smeg in the last place and it was the best i had ever cooked with (gas hob/electric fan forced oven) now i have a crappy Westinghouse, what a pile of shit they are.
Thermostat is about 20 degrees out and it has too much temp drop before switching back on.

Got a Smeg 900mm freestanding unit in anthracite black. Smeg kick arse, but then there are some pretty impressive units when you start talking designer kitchen appliances, but often you are not getting too much more value but rather paying for brand name. Like anything I suppose.
