If new or close to it, awesome, like any other modern near new or new 250 two stroke...if old and looked after and well set up, awesome. If old and suspension is buggered about with by someone who doesn't know what they are doing or chassis neglected ( engine even) - like a hammer drill in a kettle on concrete with a siezure imminent.

im after more of a "more low end than a rm, more top than a yz, better suspension than a cr, better handling than a kx" sort of comparison....

is there anyone that preferes the 250sx to something else - and why?

A mate just replaced his 450sxf with a 250sx, because it was lighter.

If it's new/near new, it will be a weapon. Stupidly light, the friendliest 250 2T MX engine on the market (plus has the PV springs to play with), tractable, handles well, PDS properly sorted now, loads of fun. Was going to buy one, but then I started reading about the 350...

Only downside I found was the bugger vibrated harder than my ex-missus's 'rabbit turbo'.

i heard that ktm's were the first sign of homosexual tendencies...

if the PDS is sorted, why are the new four stroke MX bikes got a linkage?

(just shit stirring)

Because ignorant Yanks won't buy a dirt bike unless it's got a linkage...

(and I know you're shit stirring )

I've been told to look out for you, heard you'd been approaching a few KTM owners with some dodgy propositions. Look, it's not true, if you want to 'experiment', I know a couple of guys that could hook you up... all this walking up to KTM guys at rides is just not the right way of going about this...

id also be quite interested to know, my yz has done a couple hundred hours now, time to think about an upgrade, problem is there is fuckall to upgrade to

no linkage is one very appealing factor

psssh what would you know - the 350 is like the 'half-in half-out of the closet' ktm - its got all the parts that make it look like a real bike but secretly it likes boys!

if i wanted a heavier bike with less power/cc, i would buy an xr as i hear they are very reliable farm bikes

tommorth
12th March 2011, 18:11
laugh about the xr all you want but a guy did quite wll on an xr250 at the 6hour beat a lot of people on more modern machinery.....
250 sx also has the advantage of being able to have the 300 top end fitted

And a few more ponies to boot, fun factor would increase exponentionally .

Four Stroke MX Bikes, best way of converting petrol into noise, with out the side effect of horsepower and the fun factor...

I Had to tune one for a friends friend once. Once tuned it ran well very smooth i thought it was smoother then other 250 2 stroke engines in both power and actual vibrations through the bars etc. (Lots of variable there tho)

The suspension i didnt think much of.

The clutch was Hydrolic which was nice

The brakes had good feel (Better then my old CR at the time Not as good as my CRF which is full braided lines etc)

Chassis Was prone to head shake. (Would never buy because of this)

Jumped well i thought it was more suited to a supercross track rather then a open MX or trail track.

Well he wanted to know what they were like, and yes supercross is what i think they are all about good for out of the box setup which is what i think this one was.
