Could anyone enlighten me as to why there seem to be cameras scattered all through Wellington?

Call me paranoid but I don't even like being recorded going to work.

I saw them as well, at the top of Murphy street (they got me coming up the inside (as you do)), and at the top of featherston. i wonder if there anti bike, or just traffic monitoring?

Are they cameras? I thought they were some sort of surveying tool (other than pictorial surveying of course)

was crossing the road earlier at Waterloo Quay, they're digital cameras on tripods. Also the guys monitoring them had 'clickers' like the ones bouncers use going into night clubs. I think its more traffic monitoring..

They had 6 cameras recording at the junction at the end of Aotea Quay where the road splits to go right along towards Kaiwharawhara (sp) or left onto the motorway/Interislander. There was also a couple of guy's with clickers.
The cameras where organised to catch every direction in the one place.

They also had them on the Quay itself just after ther lights at the train station.
