Thai soldiers have shot dead two suspected Cambodian motorcycle thieves during a skirmish in the middle of a sugarcane field.
Soldiers said that the gang of thieves had been caught red-handed by a pre-arranged ambush as they were attempting to drag motorbikes stolen from Thai nationals across the border into Cambodia.
When ordered to halt, the two thieves pulled out guns and began shooting the troops. The thieves were killed during a five-minute clash.
