Small tank, too tall, weird air shock but apart from that they're great.

Hi, I have one and they don't have chinese engine ... engine is made by Rotax in Austria which proven reliable one. Mine uses 0 oil, and its only needed a minor valve adjust at 40000K

thank is small but it does many more K than other bikes with bigger thanks. I get regularly 190K out of ~7.5l of 95 octanes

they're tall but then again you're suppossed to ride "on" the bike :devil2:

Its good bike with couple of problems to be addressed. Very good maintenance schedule and can be found at good $.

Haven't changed the rear but everybody that has one agrees that the rear its not the main problem what needs upgrade is the front which can be done relatively cheap. Maybe $500-$700. Suspension in general on BMs is not very good but G650X Ch has better suspension than the F650's, DRs and KLRs. It also has good ground clearence

hey thanks for the replies, I ve been a big fan of the 650 gs and have had two and know the engines are really good ,I was thinking more of the weight as its not the lightest and the fuel tank problem looks to be easily overcome. I heard a problem of the gear lever breaking off and needing an engine strip down to fix it?

I,ve not seen one here yet but it has certainly caught my eye.

Whats the engine pull like? is it the exact same engine as the 650 gs or a bit better powered?

It happened to me actually, it can be prevented though ... the problem was I didn't know also I was very unhappy with BM support (none-zero-nothing-nada-niente bike was under warranty). The workshop manual can be found cheap on 3bay if you like to do your own maintenace.

This bike is much better than F650GSD, weights lot less, has more HP (53HP 3 up from GS without any mods) good very torque, better suspension (stock), but keeps reliability, fuel efficiency ... only thing is has got less fuel (as discussed) not that you need all that much over here ...

Weight difference is notable I struggled to pickup the GSD I had if it was on a bad spot, but G650X is much easier ...

On advrider there are plenty of info about them

I have another garage...its my mates ha ha ha......

took my mates one for a blast went better than I expected especally up in the higher revs, it loved pulling up hill and steered really good. The seats are crap square edged he got his refoamed made a load of difference, suspension wise the air shock sucks no rider sag and it tops out leaping of jumps. certainly a capable bike for more serious adventure rides, his ones for sale cause he never rides it, behalf Langlands motorcycles

Is,nt the x challenge ,that the legendary "COLEBATCH" of "SIBERIA EXTREME" (ADVrider)rides, these days?
Pretty shure his "mods" ,are outlined somewhere.
Whatever bike he uses, would be very carefully considered.

Go here http://www.sibirskyextreme.com/sibirsky-extreme-2010/ and down the very bottom there is a slideshow with some photos. Also if you go here http://www.sibirskyextreme.com/photos2/ there are more photos. The BAM (and Vitim bridge) in particular are the most jaw dropping.

Seriously cool! So cool in fact that I am planning an expedition to do the BAM next year  BMW x-challenge is a bit out of my budget so we are just going for DRZ400's.

Q Has this bike had side impact ,does it look as if the swing arm & front forks are bent.??? chedd (107 ) 4:44 pm, Fri 11 Mar
A Tim here: the bike ran in to a flock of sheep ... forks look straight and there's few signs of any impact save the slight twist to the rear subframe, but you might consider having the bike surveyed if the answer is crucial to you 11:21 am, Mon 14 Mar

Wondering if this is the one from the D.B.

Nope. Neither is Hwy 35. It takes more than a couple of sheep to write off a 640 but.

What was the guy's score? One of mine was a lamb but it was a good size & the other one was pretty big so I reckon that makes an honest 2.:sunny:
