Big shout out to HELLZIE, wooo our first ride together and of course Clint, happy to lead us learners around and up through the bays today.
So as we are all so excited about our new found lifesytle we all forgot cameras:facepalm: So out came the trusty Ipod for a quick snap to remember this great day.

We met at Cycle Treads and were off. Lovely weather, good company. Great day all in all.

So whose not working tomorrow and keen for a ride somewhere ANYWHERE :):ride::blip:

In regards to a thread i read "you bike nearly killed you" you are talking down on hyosungs. The reason i ask is My husband is also a learner has a few weeks on me, however an L plater too. he has a 2007 GT250R, he hasn't had any problems, had the warranty tensioner thingy replaced at cycletreads this year, had a tiny issue with the chain being run back through incorrectly was recitfied immediately. Other than that the mention of not being able to start it when hot. I think we experienced that last weekend. After an hour and half of riding we arrived and parked, Clint decided to move the bike and it wouldn't start. Plenty of gas, oil fine blah blah blah. 10 mins later started normally!!!! This has happened twice now both after the engine has become very warm. other than Neutral being a bitch sometimes his Hyo is awesome for a 250, handles well, good off the mark, clint rues my 6th gear on the kwaka when we are on the motorway doing 70km's
:innocent::ride:
as my top end of said 70 k's  is quite alot stronger than his.:banana::first:

Hey, sorry I missed it. Helzie said she had a blast. :headbang:

The Striple tends to dislike around town traffic, the throttle gets twitchy and she starts to accelerate without warning, attracting the attention of the authorities. :2thumbsup

Got some nice routes posted up there.

Nice one, good stuff.

Yeah, first big ride can be a bit daunting but once you have a good crew of people to ride with, you are away laughing.

Me, I have done a lot of protest rides which were great, more recently done some fun and charity rides with the Fat Bikers. Must admit, prefer the fun stuff myself, makes you realise why you bought a bike in the first place.

Some good routes up there as well, get out and have it.

Stay safe

Great ride - watch out for dickheads on Woodcocks road and watch out for new seal on Old North Rd. There are two areas that have new seal and are slippery with loose stones.

I have had my speedo shit itself and the stand switch shit itself to as well as many other little things. They are a good looking and nice to ride bike but the more i ride my bike the more things go wrong with it so I can't even plan to do a long ride as my bikes reliability is an issue. I think that hyosung need to sort out alot of issues with reliability. I always thought that the bad ones were the ones that were thrashed and didn't take to much notice but that isn't the case. I know someone who has an 08 model gt250r and he travelled from matata to past opotiki which is about 75 to 80ks each way everyday for about 15months and never had anything go wrong with his bike just routine maintanace so there are some good ones out there.

Yeah, come across a few dickheads out that way before...

And a warning for anyone thinking of riding out towards Peak Road there is new seal, gravel etc out that way too! :buggerd:

warm up on a slightly bigger group ride for the Quake Appeal tomorrow leaving Dairy Flat BP at 10:30am. :) then your bikes will be all limbered up for Sunday's jaunt.

skinman
18th March 2011, 13:24
yeah just slightly bigger, from the amount of interest it could be massive.
If you do go on that ride use staggered formation & dont get too close to the bike in front. If you put on your L plate other bikes will make sure they give you room otherwise it can all get pretty friendly.
I know if im in a tight group & close to an L plater I will make an effort not to get too close as I know from experience it can be a tad intimidating to have a large bike close when you have relatively little seat time & a small bike.
Have fun :)

Well, if this weather stays the way it is I might not be able to make it to either tomorrow's one or sunday's one!

Nice to know that L platers are welcome to these big group rides though. Thanks guys!

A guy stops outside my shop everyday on his Hyommuter, not being derogatory, it's his transport. Sounds good with an after merket pipe & looks good in black. He rides it everyday, all weathers & has had no problems in the 2 years he has been buying his fags next door, so he tells me.

Yea with the new seal on Old North Road one is on the start of a 30km/h windy uphill corner, which is just over a hill, i ride out there alot and didn't notice till nearly too late :( though on another note i would be keen for a group ride, 250 as well. Though im only free nights and wednesday and thursday.
