I don't normally gamble but putting $10 on Dovvy at 71 to 1 was just too tempting.
Spies might be worth a couple of dollars punt at 13 to 1.
If only we could put on punt on NZ Superbike results.

It's quite telling that 4 of the top 5 are on Honda's (combined times would've seen Hiro Aoyama 6th which would've made for Honda filling 5/6 of the top). Could be a good year for Honda.
One thing that would be interesting to find out is who was there to put in a good time and who was there to test shit. Some cagey bastards keep a fair bit in reserve on test days, doing things like having a blinder for half a lap then slowing a fraction for the 2nd half etc, using sector times instead of complete lap times.

Needs to be. Big egg on face if they don't win an 800cc world title. Having won multiple 500cc two stroke, then 1000cc moto gp titles...pushing so hard for an 800cc limit and not winning one? They want it real bad!
I'm no huge Honda fan...but I must say it's pretty impressive how many motors they had spare last season compared to the others. Especially when they were quite obviously more powerfull to boot...

Exactly. He'll be testing right up until the lights go out for the 1st race, then he'll bring his A game.
In past years he wasn't the fastest in testing, but on Sunday's he does the deed.
The first year he was on the Yamaha he rode the arse off the thing even though the bike wasn't quite up to it yet and I'd expect him to do the same on the Ducati.
End of the day Rossi rides to win and if he thinks he can do it on the Ducati then this year is going to be spectacular.

Multiple world champ, taken victories in 250's, last rider to win a 500cc championship, first to win in the 990's etc etc etc. If he doesn't perform on the Duke that ain't going to take anything away from him. yeh Tony but if not showing your hand is being back in 13th, 1.3secs down, that would really take balls!
I'm with Denhill I was looking for a good battle with Rossi taking another tight title before he decides to quit. Dunno what it is about him probably his ability to laugh at himself (with the donkey helmet etc) and never coming across being a premadonna! I personally think given the above he's one of the greatest Motor racing sportsmen of our time? Maybe all time? I guess his record speaks for itself LOL!!
Stoner is certainly making the move away from Ducati to Honda look like its the bike that held him back? We probably should be cheering for our Aussy cousin anyway!

Mainly the guys pride mate. After calling Stoner out last year by saying he simply wasn't trying hard enough on the Ducati...when Stoner was winning on the thing. This'll get me shot down in flames...but in the last few years, Rossi has been beaten in the championship by Hayden, Stoner and now his own team mate in Lorenzo. If those guys had been there from the start with Rossi...how many would he have won? Is he REALLY that good...or has he to a certain extent won as many titles as he has by beating below par racers? Beating up on Melandri, Gibernau etc...
That's not to say I don't think he's awesome...but simply that maybe he's not THE best ever like most think.

Broken leg last year, poor performing machine (he threatened to leave Yamaha) when Stoner took the championship, and a poor start to the first half of the season when Hayden took the championship. He's not a god, but he is one of the best riders in recent history. Look what he did with the Yamaha when he left Honda. When was the last time prior to that they won a world championship? You'll be going to back to Rainy in the early 90's.

Winning the Championship on the Ducati (maybe not this year but definitely next year) is all about being THE G.O.A.T.
If he wins it this year that just adds another 1st to the long list of things that make him the best ever. But if he doesn't win a championship on the Ducati I guess he'll never ever feel he's earned The G.O.A.T. title.

Well hate to say this...but he's fucking lucky that after all of the nasty high speed biffs he's had over the yerars that the leg is the first and only thing he's ever broken, else he once again, may not have as many titles. He really has had incredible luck with the lack of serious injuries he's had. But threatening to leave Yamaha? Like crying like a baby when he couldn't have Bridgestones so badly he threatened to quit unless he got them? Which he did get...unlike his team mate. So the nest year Rossi had already had an unfair advantage over Lorenzo, because he'd had plenty of races with them already? I think you'll find that Stoner has had to ride that heap of shit for the last few years and won more races in the 800cc era than anyone else...so it's not gonna look that good in my opinion if Rossi can't win on it.
You also forget to mention one VERY important thing. Rossi was born into GP racing, and has ALWAYS had THE very best equipment and crew chief in Jerry Burgess. Don't think he would've won on the Yamaha as quickly as he did without Jerry!
I think the guy in pretty incredible though don't worry...and we could (and do!) argue for weeks and months about who is the best and why. This is just my opinion. As awesome as he is, he's also been incredibly lucky. Some don't manage that much luck in a lifetime, let alone a career.

Come on Crasher widen those blinkers mate winning a Championship is the easy part compared to retaining it.Something Stoner has found out and Lorenzo is going to find out.
Rossi has the pedigree and nothing left to prove at this point, by moving to Ducati you know the hunger is still there and that should put the fear of god into the pretenders over what is going to be a long season.
If he's in the ball park come qualifying then those repsol fairings are going to get a rub-up that still has Lorenzo waking up in cold sweats.

Indeed. It has the potential to be one of the best seasons yet.
Rossi trying to develop and win on the Ducati
Lorenzo showing he's as good at developing the bike as Rossi
Stoner trying to show it was the bike that held him back
Pedrossa looking to retain his position as top Honda rider and show recruiting Stoner wasn't the right move
Ben Spies showing he's the farken man (in a humble sort of way)
Randy De Puniet wants show he still has the biggest balls in the paddock
Dovizioso pushing to show he's got what it takes
Aoyama showing what he can do when he manages to hold onto the thing long enough
Simoncelli showing everyone he's a nutter
That's a lot of testosterone and ego's.

Same as he/she is successful because of luck?
In the high pressure racing world his relationship with Jerry probably takes quite a bit of hard work on both their parts I'd guess? No doubt Jerry has had some big offers to go! And Rossi some big offers to leave him! And they get pissed off with each other from time to time. No luck there!

I reckon VR will be happy with top 3 finishes, just racking up points at the beginning of the season. As mentioned their is a huge amount of testosterone on the grid & points to be proved.
I've always thought one of his great strengths is tactics & I doubt he will want to be clashing fairings at the beginning of the season, I bet he will by the end though. Once the dust has settled and the other riders have shown their cards he will start to charge.

We modified the setup a little compared to the test, and we immediately found it to be better, to the point that within just a few laps, I improved on my time from Monday. The last run was particularly positive and my final lap time, done with a hard tyre that had 19 laps on it, was my best. It was just a bit more than a tenth off second place. We know that if we want to have a good race on Sunday, we have to cut another five tenths, and we’ll try to do that tomorrow. Anyway, although we still have to improve some more things on the bike, now I don't have to push so hard and it is turning better. The shoulder is holding up well. It was only at the end that it started to lose a little strength, and tomorrow we’ll see how it reacts with two practice sessions. In any case, we’re happy today.”

I'm just hoping like fuck Stoner gets away cleanly and doesn't get taken out in turn one by the loonies!
Simoncelli on a really quick bike in amongst the aristocracy plus De Puniet... the first five laps are going to be...

So Casey's fastest—that's not a surprise. Neither was the way he set about the Losail track: into the 1min 55sec bracket on his third flying lap, and then put in five more. No one else got within half a second (actually 0.610sec if you want it to three decimal places).
Surprises? Hector Barbera in third and fastest Ducati, and Spies in front of Lorenzo. I don't want to draw too many conclusions from one hour at the start of a four-day meeting, but Rossi and Burgess seem a little happier than they were before the session, and although Lorenzo was slower than his team mate he was in better shape than he'd been in testing. Spies ran his least preferred tyre, Pedrosa seems to have got a duff tire.
The one conclusion we can draw is that Moto2 is going to be even more competitive than last year. The first practice was frantic, heaven knows what the race will be like.

That honda sounds different
Cross plane crank and a shorter stoke
slower piston speeds???
there is something quite radical from last year , and not just the gear change
Also all the ducatis crashed ,,, something aint right somewhere
Hrc riders are confident ( just reading between the lines) spies is worried about the hondas
yes today we improve alot ..buta im appy ....
pramac aint turning in to the corners
hurry up Rossi I want to go to the bog ..................
Danny and Casey seem to be getting a mention , reading between the lines , the honda is going to be interesting ,,,
sod off Jorge
Though he is saying that on a soft tyre towards the end of the race the tyre is going off , suspension , electronics
Enfields are on the pace
Rossi touched the white line over, under steer?? Rossi saying the Hondas are on another planet and he hopes to stay with the second group
Yes there is something different in those honda engines as I have said

Yea I watched the testing last night. Was interested to see that Rossi appears to still be physical in pain with having the shoulder surgery. Regardless - to beat the Repsol boys - especially the midget and the dingo - is going to be quite a task in the first few rounds..... The Honda does sound significantly different!

He's their official back up rider mate. Be real surprised if he can get back on the pace though. Looks like Stoner and Pedrosa may yet break into the 54's eh!? Your man still has to find some more time...but we all know he may yet pull it out of a hat!

Seems to be a pretty common theme with riders that go to suzuki. Good way to end your career. Capirossi is the only rider that managed to keep in the game and he had a pretty solid career before going to them.

W TRASH is gunna hate parting with his box of beer come season end.
Stoner is the most confident rider on the grid full stop! And that is what it takes to win races and championships
With a name like "STONER" though, I would like to see him Drug tested more:cool:

I'm not gonna share it with the fucking poofta either.
I've been watching all of the free practice rounds, and qualifying on MotoGP.com, and I've never seen Stoner smile and laugh so much. Looks like he's starting to enjoy things at Honda very quickly. Obviously a huge relief to get off the Ducati eh?
That Honda sounds FUCKING angry this year!!!!!!!!!

Don't like Stoner much anymore but shit the kid is one hell of a rider...........my real concern is that the 2 Repsol boys play nice and don't take each other out. Could be a rematch from their 250 days together............very close racing!!

Nope! Maybe.
No body. They're too fast for anyone else here. Repsol one two unless they take each other out. I've got $200.00 riding on Stoner at the tab, so the little fucker had better do the bizz.

Bold move! I reckon a leftfield punt on Pedrosa for the title could be the way to go... but I can only stretch to $7.50.

Problem is...you have to bet off shore for that. Fucking tab don't do odds for the winner of the season. I dare say you could ask them to though. Pedrosa sure is, and always has been fast enough. Just not often enough I reckon. Stoner will be there or there abouts at every single round I think.

so what are the predictions??...
should be
1. stoner
2. Pedrosa
3. Lorenzo
but that honda might chew a tyre or two....still it is looking very good...I know stoner can do it...but he just pushes too far sometimes and fails..
my picks are
1. Pedrosa
2. Lorenzo
3. Spies / Stoner / Simoncelli

Just come back from talking with a test engineer at Honda today
Hrc , here in saitama is ok , basically all is fine even with the power cuts
Utsunomiya ( just up north about an hour by train ) took a hit , but thats a production facility so shouldn't affect the racing

Sounds like it's the suppliers that HRC rely on that could be the problem. A few of them took a hit and are having problems apparently.

Not sure. It may have been the 3 Japanese factories in general. They were going on about it on the Eurosport coverage. Talking to Team Managers, such and such said blah.
