16th March 2011, 15:35
Good day all,

After an absence of far too long, we've decided to reinstate some shop rides on selected Sundays, the focus being on riders of cruisers. So essentially we're looking to provide organised rides for people more into a relaxed, social event than the traditional "hoon over the hill" thrash. Obviously, this will suit a wider range of bikers with varying skill levels. Our events will be well supervised and TSS Red Baron will supply staff to act as Ride leader, mid pack rider and a tail end charlie to ensure no one gets left behind and everyone enjoys the cruise. Date for the first of these rides is set for April 17

Destinations will vary event to event but the first we'll meet at the shop around 9:30 am, looking for a 10:00am departure. Ride will incorporate mostly open road riding with a lunch stop planned in the Wairarapa at around 12:30. There will be a couple of regroup points planned for along the way to make sure everyone's happy and comfortable. Distance to the lunch stop is anticipated to be approximately 160km, and then 30km to the next gas station. From there, we'll have a nice group ride back as far as the splitting point at Caltex Rimutaka where we'll bid farewell.

Stewart has kindly offered to crank the BBQ up at the shop prior to departure for a breakfast of champions, sausages. You'll need to be in quick though, Stewart likes sausages.

Riders of ALL machines welcome, but please do remember that this is a relaxed cruisy ride with a lead rider. Racers looking to carve up the 'Taka's, we'd prefer you choose a different ride please.

An indication of numbers would be helpful to gauge the BBQ requirements so let us know if you're keen to ride folks, make sure the bike's serviced and the WOF's up to date and tell your friends about the only Cruiser Specific ride in the Wellington region. Aiming to have a cracker day but if the weather's absolutely mud, a decision will be made at the TSS Red Baron shop departure point as to whether or not to proceed based on numbers in attendance and the general feeling.

So we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday 17th of April from 09:30 for a great days cruising.

Cheers

So, are you saying even sport bikes are welcome if the riders are prepared to ride nice and laid back as opposed to the Freedom Suzuki cruiser ride which is for cruiser style bikes only?:scratch:
If thats the case, I'm in along with Mrs Berg:cool:

Correct.

Finally, a ride you'll be able to keep up with in your old age. I know you're only in it for the sausage.

Morning all,

Just a quick bump for this thread to remind that the ride is on for this Sunday. Be great to have a slight heads up as to who's planning on attending so that we can ensure there's no shortage of saussies for the BBQ in the morning.

Looking forward to it :woohoo::scooter::woohoo:

Hi,

Are these rides working ok and if so when is the next one. I have just brought another bike after 21 years and would love to ride with a group of cruisers.
