Yes indeed everyones worst round will be dropped.
Vic Club is trying to be innovative again, (like when we ran a National Round and had free spectator entry)
In theory it will remove some of the element of "luck" from the results e.g. if something beyond your control means you can't compete or you DNF your series chances aren't blown.
There is still the incentive to do all 6 rounds as unless you have the championship "sewn up" by round 5 (as has been done) you just don't know which is gunna be your worst round..
It will be re-visited after the season for evaluation and may or may not be continued in future series.

Righto Luke, get my entry in for round one!
I'm pretty sure that a whole bunch of people will only run the four manfield rounds and opt to drop Taupo all together. It wont effect their points and seriously increases their chances of keeping bike shiny. Interestingly, it's the only track I've ridden and not crashed at, slippery horrible place that it is.

Why are Motards not welcome anymore? If they accept they will use conventional race lines, keep their feet up etc,,why can't they run formula 3? It seems to me there are alot of riders being left out in the cold. Don't even mention Bears classes. Do we have that many entries that we can start choosing who can race? How about an entry level class for 125 Motards on std wheels? Lots of young MXers with bikes in sheds. 2 tyres, some sprockets and a main jet and look out budding roadracers? Just a thought.Maybe even get some of the old masters out for a play in a class like that?

Motards were continually battling for numbers even when they had their own class, so I reckon there'd be next to none showing up to compete against/with the road racers. The club shouldn't have to keep chasing up certain classes of bikes at round after round to scrape together legitimate race numbers when there are other classes gagging for track time.
BEARS? There's nothing stopping BEARS running in clubman's or the established classes. BEARS bikes dominated last years F1 class so it's hard to justify a separate class when they already have good options.
I kinda think you might be going about it the wrong way. Get expressions of serious interest from those young 125 motocrossers before suggesting a new class. Then you can rock up to a club meeting and say I've got x number of guys lined up to race. Otherwise it's just a lot of talk and effort only for no-one to rock up...as has happened in the past.

Can't argue with that I guess. But seems harsh not to be allowed to run one in F3. Good advise on the 125's. Maybe a club like MOCC would have the contacts to suss it out. I'm a voice in the wilderness for Bears obviously. I probably mean a B grade class for riders between Clubmans and you rocketmen in F1. Poor old Clubmans don't even get points>but thats another thread. Thanks anyway. Back to my cave.

motards were a bit hairy to race against in f3, i know because i raced against them at vic club and wanganui. unfotunatly they just dont mix well together.
The other issue i think was when vic club used to run the enduro race meeting, motards used to complain about not being able to carry enough fuel for a 30min race.

There is a clubmans B to start in then clubmans A and if you are consistently running under 1:18 you will be asked to move up to another class ( 1:18 in F1 in the winter series will probably see you with half a dozen bikes behind you going by last years times.)
The clubmans class was stripped of its title and points to stop people lurking there to get a trophy. I guess it was a problem or they wouldn't have done it :) I started the first year that was in place and was the top points scorer (mylaps keeps count even if the club doesn't :) ) in clubmans B so was a bit miffed but never mind :)
The club is flexible - if someone is doing 1:18's 1:17's but doesn't feel ready to move up yet that can be negotiated.

If theres no title or trophies associated,Then why have a restriction on laptimes???
Motorsport is supposed too be fun and if you force somebody to race in a class theyre not comfortable in it takes the fun out of it a little,Clubmans racing is as the name suggests and never should have had titles or points involved anyway.

Hey Wharfy, what's the race order this weekend? If Clubman's is before F1 I've got a cunning plan to enter Clubman's, do better than a 1:17, and be asked to move to F1, thereby gaining an extra race. Waddayarekun?

That's why the club is flexible and will negotiate with individuals who do not want to move up.
But having some hotshot on an R1 reeling off 1:14's in clubmans would probably take some of the fun out of it for the rest of the clubmans people. It would be better for all concerned if they help swell the ranks of F1 class. (This is just an example none has done that as far as I know ).
Also as far as I can recall since the 1:18 cut off time has been in place nobody has been disadvantaged by it. I know of at least one rider who wanted to stay to get more experience before moving up and he was accommodated and has gone on to do well in the F2 class.

I couldn't help but notice Pacific club run 7 classes over Vics 6 and they manage to include Buckets, Bears, Open Twins and Motards. And they fit it all in with apparent ease. How do they do it?:shit:,,magic.. Fields are big too, although it is a summer series so those folk scared of a little rain bring their scoots out of the shed more readily.

One of the issues with Manfeild is the track restriction ('cause its in town) we have to start after 9 and finish before 5 so time is limited.
I think Taupo (where PMCC usually run) is more liberal - I'm sure someone will correct me if this is wrong.

Shoots...only 8 entrants for F2?? sign of the times. How bout adding a late class for BEARS to combine :).....get some more bikes on the grid and money in the kitty for the club ;)
Alright Alright Ive been pushing this BEARs issue for far to long now huh ...lol
Worth a try though, and it would make sense to get a decent size grid yeah???
Bears is a dirty word around here apparently. Best to just not mention it.

Not at all. B.E.A.Rs is a great class. But most of those bikes fit into other classes. There are no more of them that do not, than there are Japanese bikes without a competitive class.
Why try and fit another class into the program to fit just one minority.
The idea of gridding them up with F2 at club rounds is a good one though. There is space for them, and there isn't a dangerous speed differential.
(As a bonus, Italian thousands can be competitive):Pokey:

yeah I think if the races were longer it could be a problem with speed, but the 6 laps this weekend wouldnt be a problem with an F2/Bears mix i wouldn't think. Just an idea to get numbers up, and give at least some of the big guns an extra class. Full grids = healthy club funds = more chance of club days survival for us to go play :)
Not really sure why people are so against running Bears anymore. It brings more numbers and a lot of those extra numbers can cross enter into other classes as well to fill the grids.

Yeah! 916-996/RSV's would be a good fit for F2. But then you could argue why not Honda SP1/2's or TLR1000 as well? Maybe just a blanket 1000cc twins addition? Would be an interesting wee class or sub-class.
But realistically someone needs to get some firm commitments from potential riders/racers before suggesting it otherwise it's just a wasted effort when no-one turns up. It shouldn't be up to the club to chase up, those guys have got enough on their plate.

seems a bit wrong that the f1 class get the least track time just cause there fast. give the streetstock less laps and the f1/f2 more seems logical if you based it on time

Bears is already a recognised class world wide, except in North Island NZ lol. With the numbers of eligible bikes already entered in this round, the grid would already be bigger than any other class entry so far., plus the extra's it would attract, I would expect a close to full capacity grid.
Limiting it to twins would knock out half of them or more. Though it would alow SV's etc to enter, but they do already have a class they can cross enter into. And reaslistically....how many TL's and VFR's are out there racing?
Only have to ask most spectators from last winter which race gave huge entertainment.....the battle of the BEARs at the front of F1 !!! go figure.

What a brilliant idea,Lets do exactly the opposite to that being run at Mototrcycling Canterbury where they give the development class as much tracktime as possible and are producing ALL the new up and coming 600 riders,Lets limit it to 2 x 2 lap races for streetstock/Prolite 250,That oughta get the young riders excited.

So you think its better to give them 12 mins of track time and the 600s 8 mins cause that really encourages them to step up a class. dont cut back the young guys then but give the bigger bikes a few more laps

Now your thinking,2 etra laps for F1 would take no more than 3 mins x 3 =9 mins total for the day
At least it is heavy enough that it won't fly over the fence:yes:Don't bet on it. But we're not running the long track this round, so the nearest fence to chuck it over is exiting the sweeper. In which case...DUCK!

I'm keen to see juniors coming through too but the fact the fast lil' buggers get to ride tracks like Ruapuna and Levels down South probably has more to do with their excellence than anything else. Those tracks are a helluva lot more technical and challenging than Manfeild.
The kids are only paying a lousy $20 to enter a round as it is, probably don't even pay for travel, and get as many laps as the rest of the field that's subsiding them, and they've nowhere near the running costs of any other class. They have absolutely no reason to feel hard done by.
Yeah, promoting the juniors is great, but if you reach the point where the folks who pay most of the money in entry fees can't see the point in rocking up then you are heading down a slippery slope. 4 laps qualifying is crap and I won't be adding my $$$ to the kitty when it's only 3 laps at the 2 day rounds later in the season. For the same money I'd rather do a track day and get 60 laps instead of 22, and not have to worry about the guy who's spearing up the inside trying to get up to race speed in 4 min's.

:whocares: I dont have a problem with the 3 or 4 laps for quilafying my self.
Half of the people that are doing this season have already done a few and should have enough track knowledge to be able to get tyres warm after one lap then go hard for 2. its not a difficult track to learn so firts timers will have it by the balls after round one and be good to go for round 2.
Hey another thing..... Vic club don't actually have to organise these meetings for us all to get our thrills so take it on the chin man up and be thankfull for what we have got. Thats my rant stop moaning and see you at the track suckers.

There's a fair ol' difference between knowing how to run (which we've all done since shrugging off the nappies) and knowing how to go fast on a motorcycle when you mightn't have raced for a month or two. Fair ol' difference in the hip pocket if it all goes tits up too.
But you're absolutely right, and I guess folks will speak with their feet. I appreciate what the Vic Club are trying to do but I can't help feeling this isn't one of their better decisions. But we'll see on the weekend, I'd love to be proven wrong.
