My sister has her full (car) license test today, and she thinks she'll have to go down a road posted "slow zone"

so whats the legal requirement for these signs?

Cheers Reido

Is this in Auckland? I'm pretty sure there are different limits for different places. Local council website would probably tell you the answer.

Some places it's 10kph, other places it's 30kph and others it's 40kph. A lot of the time they are during school time so probably depends on what time of day she's doing her test.

Stop being sensible, this is KB.

Slow Zone is 100kph!!!

As far as I understood, the road code only recognises the numbers in the red circles as posted speed limits. Those sorts of signs are only really put up in expensive neighbourhoods to keep the property values up, aren't they?

I would agree with previous post. Have never seen a sign like that, but if no number do speed limit (or less if it looks dodgy)

blue sign, white border with green insert = information only. Snob zone. Keep your eyes peeled, limit hasn't changed but a plonker that can afford lawyers may be driving with their nose in the air.

Slow Zone sign often denotes traffic calming devices...speed bumps, raised sections, etc..

in our area there are some wheelie bins with speed limit stickers stuck to the side of them (put out when there rubbish is out). They usually say 30 or 40 & some look similar to a real speed limit sign, albeit a little smaller. Obviously only a suggestion by the locals, but not enforcable.

Slow zone - that'd be Invercargill, wouldn't it?

Maybe their rubbish men drive too fast and by the time they empty and put the bin down it's 100mtrs down the road and the poor house holder has to walk to get it?
