Well if that bike is a genuine bike - and a bike shop says so - then isn't it worth a trip to Christchurch??

And yeah CBR is an awesome bike too......

Go and ride the bikes first... go 'looking to purchase' at a dealer and try them.

If you haven't ridden many bikes except the gn-250 you probably learnt on ;) I wouldn't reccomend jumping straight on a zxr. If you dont ride the clutch around small corners (I mean 5-20kmh) it will sometimes 'hop' from the way the engine is designed (too low rpms etc). It is a little more peaky/raw too, making it a REAL bike :devil2:

For a complete noob I would say cibbbbbRRRRRr but try a ZXR afterwards. Make sure it's C model ;D

i've been riding off road bikes since before i can remember and recently sold my yzf250 and still use my dads yz450 so the whole bike thing is not a problem but do realise how very different it is to road riding...
i have done a small amount of road riding about 10 hours
on a zxr250 and a test on a suzuki 250 bandit....
loved the zxr i think i will go around test riding bikes but the prices seem to be better from private sales as with anything
does any one know how much it would cost to ship a bike from chch to tauranga just so i got an idea...
wot should i be looking for when purchasing a zxr and niggly problems they all seem to carry

If you can handle a YZF450, you should be more than capable of hadling a CBR or ZXR

yeah the 450 scares me occasionally but i've got a bit of weight so can keep the front down well i can only learn road biking by gettin out there cant wait :D

i assume it takes alot to learn how to ride a road bike fast compared to a dirt which way is the easiest transition?

I've gone from dirt to road. When I started I was riding a CRF150 then a KX80 around the Masterton MX track. Then I got intrested in road riding so I got a set of road tyres for the KX and did supermotard. Road riding was that much easier as you didn't have to concentrate on the terrain as much as you would on dirt so you could focus on shifting, braking and throttle control. Going back to the dirt after riding on the road is a lot of fun as I now know to control the bike and can concentrate on the terrain. Now a have the CBR and are trying to race it often but the crashes I suffered in Round 1 have stopped me riding for a while. Came third in race 1 after being stuck behind some RGs at the start. Once I got past them, if I had another lap I could've past the front runners, so riding a road bike fast is easy enough

Going from a 450 to a 250 road bike should be a piece of cake for you. You'll have the time of your life :niceone:

what ? my first bike was a cbr rr they are fine to learn on, nice handling nice looking 250s

Yeah that black 1991 ZXR 250C from motorcycle Imports direct is genuine, i brought mine from there and with there prices they are unbeatable and a trip to chch to see it would defenitly be worth it, you wont see much ZXR's with that low k anywhere else for that price, I think they also hav to other green zxr c models and 2 black ones, I purchased mine from there, hope this helps your decision, id pick a ZXR over a CBR anyday :Punk:

seem to hear a lot more positive things about them...
how much did it cost to get the bike up from chch i dont wanna ride it all the way home for my first ride in the middle of winter

Thats cool.... if you believe a 14 year old bike has only done 10,000ks. The only way those k's can be legite is if it was used as a racer.

hahah wot wuld u kno dude, The bikes motorcycle import direct mostly get have been garaged, all the bikes are fresh imports, my bike road brilliant when I got it, and i know what a bike thats been raced is like and mine was nothing like it, mine was nice and smooth through the gears, and considering yours has done 39,000ks that is heaps :no:

Thats cool mate if you got a good one, but considering what everyone knows about Jap imports i think its a bit naieve to believe that all their bikes have been sitting in garages for years. :weird:
