What a fantastic day. The weather gods were kind to us and the rain did not start until it was time to head home. If you havent been to one of these days run by Karel Pavich and have the opportunity to do so then you should.

I headed down about 6.30am hoping to avoid the stresses of the Auckland Motorway in its busiest time and partially succeeded. Breakfast at the Autobahn fueled up and ready to go. :scooter:

Today was a “cruiser” only day and was mostly Harleys and a very varied bunch too. We were honoured to have a police commandant (or was that sargeant) along sharing some knowledge and AMPS along with Road & Sport who provided demo bikes and lunch.

Karel has a wonderful teaching ability and sure does not lack in enthusiasm for everything motorcycling. Her opening comment was along the lines of “bikes....thats why god made a space between our legs.”

We had plenty of theory then backed it up with actually getting out there and doing it. Bike handling, braking, counter steering, cornering to name just a few areas covered today.

At the end we could have an instructor follow us and give us advice on lines and skills and anything else which was fantastic. I got to do this and had the opportunity to follow him and see his line (yes he went slow so I could keep up :baby:). His feedback about my riding was worth every cent.

I have been in the pits at Pukekohe many times over the years but to hear about 20 Harleys fire up there in one go was pretty cool I have to say. The funniest thing I have ever seen in my life had to be watching Harley riders shifting their bums and leaning on pegs around a race track.....

Would I do it again.....HELL YEAH. Thanks to Karel and her team for a great day and a big thanks to Toaster for posting about this on KB. The Bike Ride TV was there so we may be world famous too

Pity the heavens let loose for the ride home but you cant have everything I suppose.

Was this a 'one off' day? I have just changed my bike to a cruiser and after 40t years riding, I realise I need to re learn a lot of basic manoevures.

I am petty sure we were the first "cruiser only" day. Hopefully with the positive feedback given by us participants on the day it wont be the last. Maybe drop her a line/email:
