View Full Version : Lap records?

Curiosity got the better of me. I wanted to know what the lap records were for bikes at NZ tracks. I was looking mostly at Levels, Teretonga, and Ruapuna.
Problem is I cant fuckin find anywhere that has the lap records for the bikes on any of these tracks. Plenty of info on lap records for them tin-top contraptions, but nothing for the bikes. Google wasnt my friend either.

So Im wondering, Is there anywhere where there is a list of past/current lap records for the bikes at the different tracks around New Zealand?

If not Does anyone have a desire to contribute info towards making a thread (maybe a sticky) of lap record holders and times?

Thought it would be interesting.

As per NZSBK 2011 programme current prior to the 2011 meeting:
Pro-Twin: T Fitzgerald 2009 1.38.048 (but this might be an F3 bike??)
Superlite(F3): T Fitzgerald 2009 1.37.05
600 Supersport: J Smith 2009 1.32.457
600 Superstock: Fastest lap this year, probably Midge Smart?
Sidecar: N and G Hazelman 1995 1.41.33
125GP: S Ward 2003 1.38.86
Superbike: A Stroud 2009 1.30.077
Streetstock: A Hoogie 2008 1.18.967 (I am guessing that this is not correct!!! 1.48 maybe??)

I think Hoogie was on his CBR which I would have thought would be 1.58 although S/S are now doing 1.55

A new sidecar record was set at 1.39 something at that meeting breaking the one set in 1995

mylaps will show if the record was broken during a particular race if you're looking at the times

Yeah, agree, 55's I think is wishful thinking. IIRC 56.8 or thereabouts. Sam Smith R6, 58.2 on a 600. Done the same day, the year Sam won the 600 class.

So why doesn't MNZ have lap record information on its site?

I also wonder why they don't have all the historical race information there too, but they seem more concerned with recording what Kiwis have done overseas.

I think Jason Cameron holds Ruapuna record for streetstock with a 1:53. something.
Levels streetstock is Anthony Singer with a 1:16.5.
Would think that Sam Love probebly holds the Ruapuna Pro-twin record probebly high 38,s although Johnny Small would be close to it.
Think that either J hoogie or Andy McLaughlin hold Teretonga Streetstock.
Please correct me if im wrong.

I would honestly pay good money and to see a 57 on a 600 if that's physically possible. At Pukekohe that needs unimaginable balls. Top respect for these guys- fucking mad bravery.

Does anyone know what kind of work has been done on that bike? Head gasket, cams, valves, pistons? Not assuming they are more than stock at all but just wondering.

Back when Sam done those lap times the rules where a head gasket and a pipe with the ecu being changed also, other than that the engines are stock maybe change cam timing to. He had raced in OZ that year and was riding really really good Scott Charlton from OZ on Brenards R6 also run similar times and he was the only one that could hang with Sam at that weekend.
Also suspension changed to Ohlins etc but not alot different to the current Superstock rules
