Mixing tyres

I have an 86 gsxr400 with a 2.5 inch rim.
I have bridgestone bt003 race tyres for dry racing.
My question is regarding wet tyres in that the rear feels ok in the wet but front feels like its going to wash out so can i run a bridgestone 110/590/17 wet race tyre on the front with the bt003 rear or will this combination not work???.

Of course you can. If you're only losing the front, then go for it. Just remember tho, the rear probably won't be too far behind....

Thats probably true but a the 2nd round of king of ruapuna it was wet for practice and race 1 but the rear felt good and seemed to hook in well coming out of corners on full power it was the front going into and mid corner that felt mushey.
Both tyres are radials.

Impulse has 2.5 front and 3.0 rear. 3.5 is recomended for the 120 rear

They work ok with used 125 slicks. 90/580/17 and 120/60/17

RGV250 has a 3.0 front and suits a 110. if you use a 120 they dont feel nice (from what i have been told) That maybe the same feel you are getting with the 110 on the 2.5 rim

Im not too wsorried about the rear as i have a 250 bandit 4 inch rim on it so i could get a wet for that but it seems stable so thought a wet on the front might help.
I was going to put a 3 inch rim off an rgv on the front and have the rim but the spokes are too wide and rub on the inside of the calipers.:facepalm:

theres plenty of guys who has done this and had some have had some success.

I find though once you have the front grip, when you transfer the weight to the rear, you'll discover the grips not nearly as good as you thought. the rear only feels good when you havent the front grip, and as soon as you have front grip and can generate some corner load, when you go to transfer it rearwards you may find that load is greater than the rear can hold.
