View Full Version : GPX 250 low beam and horn intermittently working

Any ideas what this could be and/or what I should check and how I can check it? Low beam headlight wired to start with motor, high beams still work fine when low beams intermittantly turn on and off (worked for about 5 minutes of my trip home in the dark tonight, but worked the whole 30min the other night). Also noticed that the horn doesn't work when the low beams aren't working.

So, wiring? Only thing I can think of is the wiring where it goes down to the headlight/horn or the switchgear on the L handlebar? I wouldn't think the horn would be wired to the engine so shouldn't need to check that yes?

Help much appreciated! Thanks

check the left side switchblock and its wiring first

Start engine and jiggle wiring loom very gently. Fault will show up eventually.

Well, i started by pulling apart and crcing the switchgear, no luck there, then proceeded to follow all the connecters and unplug them one by 1, crc'd a few, jiggled the one into the light a bit and then upon checking the connectors to the horn - voila, holding on by one wire sort of thing. rewired that, crimped it, and voila, headlight and horn work fine..

so all good now, cheers all, just don't know if it was just cause of the horn wiring (shouldn't be, but who knows with the ground wires?), or just lotsa jiggling! hehe

Shot. Electrical problems are nothing to be afraid of. It's almost always something simple. Dont even need a multimeter.
