There is 4 different e-mail links in EJ's post;
www.kiwibiker.co.nz
www.kiwibikers.co.nz
www.kiwibiker.com
www.kiwibikers.com

I haven't tried them, assuming they all link back here.

Fuck the embarrassment and shame of it all. Think how many thousands, nay millions, nay billions of people who will search 'Kiwibiker rant and rave', and how they will all laugh at us.

This a biker forum site, not a spelling bee. No-one is responsible for correcting everyone's spelling and grammar.

The mods may often correct spelling mistakes in thread titles - I fixed the "Lybia" one yesterday - but obviously not before it had been indexed by Google.

I've seen far worse examples on Google.

Would it be difficult to force a spell check before a post can be submitted?

We're in good company...although on second thoughts I'd rather not be grouped with the Daily Mirror

Spell checking isn't the half of it. In thread titles alone: overuse and misuse of capital letters, excessive punctuation, incorrect punctuation, "smilies"; all dwarf the spelling business. Add to that thoughtless titles like "Hi" or "Ride this weekend" or "Watch TV1 now" or the 16 word string and many other classics built to ensure that people either open everything or nothing.

Arguably none of that is important but the average KB member probably likes to have a pleasant online experience when trolling through all of the material available here.

I'm guessing being pissed and/or stoned, has got a lot to do with this lazy approach to our online written word. I feel so guilty I might become a catholic. But seriously, since CHCH, Japan and my back injury, I'm starting to see the cracks everywhere, flipping on what was once cool or okay, and looking to the horizon for something real.

How should good grammar read? Mistakes are to be avoided, but is grammar not subjective? We all imitate a certain pentameter, whether English, American, Australian, Canadian or Kiwi. Many Asians, South Americans, Europeans et al come to NZ to get their english grammar to a business standard.

We would hope our kids were gettin it right, rather than ballsing it up.
