I'm looking for that bike that sits in your garage. That you've been wanting to do something with but never have, and now have no time for.
I really want a cheap bike to tinker with and maybe turn into a race bike. So If it's a 250 (V-twin/Inline four) or a 400 I'd be keen. Let me know if you have anything lying around. Anything from around $500 - $1k are probably the bikes I'm looking for.

We have both a MC19 (CBR250) and NC24 (VFR400) sitting in the shed that don't seem to be doing anything....

Haha, preferably Auckland sorry mate! Though I'd be keen on a CBR250... good class to start out racing in. Hmmm....

Ha, they're not mine, they're my man's.... He bought them for a great deal awhile ago with all intentions of getting them going, seeing as he was taking awhile I thought I would help him "get them going" out of here..... He'd probably kill me! :)

which class can you race these in? I didn't think there was one, well it may be eligable for a few (maybe F3/clubmans?) but far from competitive

Some advise for ya. Start out with a bike thats already had the hard yards done on it.
-So someone has already converted it to a racebike/trackday bike.
You won't believe how much cash this project can and does soak up otherwise .

Minilites 250. Vic Club and Pacific club both run the class, not sure who else but it is a good sized class. Cheap racing and fun!

Yeah I know it soaks up loads of cash, but I know very little about how to do any sort of mechanical work on bikes, this would be a great way to learn (so I thought). I'd rather not pay a bit more for a done bike and then when it needs something to be repaired I have no idea what to do.
