Threaded Suzuki fork studs?

Hi


I managed to snap a axle holder stud in typical murphys law style. Just when you dont want it to happen.

I have rigged up another stud in the mean time but where on earth do you get replacements from? Its about 30mm long and m6 i assume. The thread on one end is longer than the other end. The bike is a 2005 suzuki drz 250

Suzuki had no idea and did not stock anything like it and neither did the 5 fastener shops that i went to.

Any ideas?

Ask at a car wrecker if you can have a poke around old cylinder heads - might be the same as exhaust manifold studs, or something. If you find something a little longer you can always cut off the surplus.

Measure it up and make a sketch. Take the damaged bits and the sketch to a local engineering shop. Pay the man his minimum charge.

M6 grub screw, only difference is it wont have an unthreaded portion in the centre
I would have thought the fastener shops would have suggested it

You could also try a Kart shop as I think that's the same size as their wheel studs

Done this before. Assuming you got the stud out completely replace the stud and nut arrangement with an M6 bolt the right length. Wifes KDX has been running like that for years.

You used to be able to purchase cylinder/head studs, these are generally 6mm, sorry been a while and I cant remember the length of these. Failing that as suggested previously cap screws.
