I reckon it looks cool. Needs a new front rim though to match the rear rim though. Also the tank seems a bit out of place to me. Just the wrong shape for the new look you are rocking.

Awwww thats awesum Bro!!
Going to be the bizzo when finished as you'll have all these folks coming up to you wondering what nice sounding Ducati your riding:yes:
Couple of tips Ive seen is that a CBR600 F2 tank can be fitted with a bit of fiddling & an square aluminium roasting pan can be modified to make a sexy chain guard:yes:
You can also make a raceier looking sprocket cover with a bit of imagination & large drill bits out of the stock one:blink:

rims are both stock, though the rear has a lot of soot on it which could make it look like they don't match I spose. Yeh reckon a sharper more angular tank would look the buisness with that setup, but I got a stock-ish cowl going on the back which will make it all flow a lot nicer.

Yeh have been keeping an eye out for an F2 tank, but they must be getting pretty rare. New chain cover will be done with a custom hugger. Yeh had thought about chucking it on the mill actually, maybe when I get round to reconditioning the engine, they look mint when powdercoated black :yes: but then so do most things :D

VFR Wheels (750/800 are close aren't they?) , twin front disc, and a littl ebit of side panel under the seat then :woohoo:
If you made a buell style exhaust then you could have just the seat "floating" out the back. Would look trick.

yeh lot of guys run vfr rims, some guys run cazzoria :drool: (or however the fuck you spell it)
the original exhaust come out about where the buell does anyway, well restrictive but some guys run short cans there too, not a fan of the look though, and need decent pipe lengths for good exhaust scavenging too.

hawkgtforum.com you mean? 647cc of salvation :D some ridiculously awesome shit on there, seeing what others can/have done motivates me to have a go at a lot of things I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise.

Yeah ,thats the one....some serious stuff there & fellas like J D Hord cleaning up in the AMA on his hotted Bros's against Duke 748"s:shit:
I regret in some ways selling my Bros,fantastic project bikes & just imagine if they'd kept making them:woohoo:
I reckon underseats the way to go with your exhaust as you'd prolly have clearnce issues, but you linkage would prolly solve that.

yeh it's definetely acheived cult-bike status, and then some! There's a few parts on there from J D Hord, may have to get him to ship a worked engine over for the next one.... One of the things about the bros is they don't make anything like it anymore, with your gixxers etc theres a new upgraded one every year, but buy one of these and it'll never get 'old'. Reckon you should buy another one and start modding :yes:
exhaust clearance will be pretty close, but think i'll just get a way with it :fingerscrossed:

got the idea from a guy who made his rear-sets in the same shape, which also look wicked.

A heap of effort has come to fruition! Approximately 8kg lost, with another 2 going when I get LiFePO4 ceels to replace the battery.
Heres a pic, which doesn't do the exhaust wrap justice, it looks way better IRL.
<img src="http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll52/bogan229/P1010539.jpg" width=640 />

Rideable as is, but a bit of surging and I think richness in some parts, will tune the fuck out of it once I get my hands on a wideband O2 sensor.

Looks fucking SICK haha, not sure about the front though, But im not a big fan of big mirrors and screens on naked bikes, bar end mirrors and no screen would look the shit ;) IMO

Cool stuff. I'm not much for customs of the sports variety given what I do for work and in my workshop, but it's cool when someone puts a bag full of custom work on a sports bike.

I imagine the cylon front is in the pipeline.
Indeed it is, except I used the cylon front for the back :scratch: mirrors and clocks will be removed in favor of an lcd screen, and a bixenon projector headlight is on the way. It's the next major mod, but need to get a bit creative to figure out an awesome plan first.

Way more time than money, and connections to places with the right equipment helps immensely. The whole tail section including the subframe cost well under a grand, but probably around 100 hours labor.
Always happy to pass on what I've learnt if you get an urge to try something yourself.

My pleasure mate! Anyone building a custom, and wanting a small, lightweight battery, I have a KB price of $15.00 off my TradeMe price.
The bike looks good and it's great to see the good old Kiwi DIY attitude still reigns supreme! :niceone:

As long as you learn from it, it can't be too bad a fuck up. Just make sure all the parts you do are bolt on and don't require modding any original bits!

Yeh we could swap some parts off it for honda ones if a suitable donor is found, that way it'll get more reliable too. Reckon we start with the engine, frame, wheels, suspension and fairing, then go from there :yes:

Yeh thankfully it isn't to everyones tastes, designed it to keep the stock lines, and one of them modern pointy bastards would look shit on such a classy bike.

Are the lights legal ?
Not by themselves, but have a tail tidy that includes the stock indicators and an e-marked brake light. Though I am assuming having extra lights doesn't make it illegal...
Also I'm not sure whether i should ride with the LEDs cylon scrolling, I think it may induce target fixation or make it appear moving when not?

If the cylon bit counts as a cosmetic light, then for starts the light source can't be visible. And:
not emit a light that revolves, rotates or otherwise
moves, and
But if it counts as a "Rearward-facing position lamps" then:
A lamp must emit a steady light.
Where a lamp comprises an array of light sources
(eg LEDs), at least 75% of these must operate.
If it counts as a "Direction indicator lamps" then that is where I am not sure :) It does make mention to pairs though, that's the only thing I can see that wouldn't allow the cylon affect... maybe.

yeh those were my thoughts too, except the position indicator lamps have to be in pairs, but I can't recall many bikes with a pair of park lamps, a few twin bulb ones but not so much pairs. So I'm thinking the position lamp is the closest match.
The steady light thing could be an issue I guess, but I read that as a steady output of lumens (which it is designed to be), rather than positionally steady. So a gray area I think.

Yeh there are a few of them floating round, many oversized to 700cc as well. For me I'm not after any more power than what it has, will lift the front in a hard launch, but not with overzealous throttle. Which is a good as I don't want to send her sliding down the road after all the work I put in :no:

Had the swingarm out the last few days, after cleaning got some better photos of the linkage installed on the swingarm. Looks like it has all held up alright, though there was a bit of wear on the roller bearing these are supposed to be rotated every now and then anyways, and it'll be good until the bearing are next due for a re-grease anyway.
<img src="http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll52/bogan229/P1010720.jpg" width=640/>
Suspension at rest.
<img src="http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll52/bogan229/P1010721.jpg" width=640/>
Suspension compressed. Shows the extra rotation of the link bit.
<img src="http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll52/bogan229/P1010717.jpg" width=640/>
Rigid mounts and link, rigid mounts bolt to the centerstand holes, and clamp up on the swingarm bushings at the top, they provide the correct location for the link's fixed end.
<img src="http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll52/bogan229/P1010715.jpg" width=640/>
Best view of the rocker. Machined in two halves, weighs about a kilo, only adds about 190gm to the unsprung weight (probably not noticeable with the other 25kg). Little slot next to the nut allows access to the rebound adjuster on the shock.
