No, I didn't drop the damn thing but thought I was going to. Came home from work at 6am, steady rain, wet gloves, wet jacket. A tight roundabout and still getting to terms with a long heavy bike.
My previous bike would've swung around without me thinking about it. The Dragstar wanted to go straight. Well I did, the bike can only go where I point it.
I think having my boots ahead of my hips, higher/wider handlebars and the longer wheelbase made me feel the cruiser wasn't turning. Knowing the road was wet didn't help.
I got around, but it reinforced the need to relearn and practice slow speed turns, U turns and gain confidence with a totally new riding style. Even turning left into the driveway takes a new approach.
Plenty of videos on Youtube showing riders doing slow u turns, swerving etc on big bikes. The emphasis seems to be on counter leaning, slipping the clutch etc.
Has anyone else had to re learn the basics with a different styled bike?
