Righto we have always scratched our head about what tires to put on the GT250 and GT250R Hyosung, on account of their odd tire sizing 110/70 and 150/70. We took all sorts of conflicting advice and then did nothing because of the uncertainty.

After a measure up, we found that the GT650R rear wheel is about 1cm wider at the rim, and the front wheel looked identical, so we speculated that the GT650R tires would probably fit. So we just went ahead and tried it.

Michelin Pilot Road 120/60 and 160/60 - fits perfectly. Open road test.... well, its a Michy PR2. Think about it.

Dunlop GPRA10 120/60, 160/60 - All good! Farrrrrrrr better than the stinky shinkos!

We've had various other brand tires in the same size on the Hyo 250's, and they are perfectly ok.

Moral of the story? Don't put shit tires on your Hyo 250! Spend a bit more and get a quality set. The slightly larger width and lower profile doesn't seem to do any harm, and IMO the bike does feel better to ride (confirmed by three other riders.)

110/70 shouldn't be too hard to come across - I've always found something for the NSR - and a10's are awesome on the wee rocket.

I guess it's "only a hyosung" but the 110/70 feels much better than a 120/60 on the front of an NSR. Quicker turning I think - I'd try comparing the same brand but different profile next time.

ask Billy on here how HIS Hiresungs feel on the Bridgestone 003RS's, 110 front, 150 rears - seems quite happy

Interesting. I'm looking at new tyres in the very near future. Absolutely HATE the Shinko's in the wet. Slipping all the way up the Kopu-Hikuai hills on the weekend was one of my less fun riding experiences. Almost as fun as wet roundabouts

There is one thing about the shinkos - they are really good for training, because they wriggle around and make you FEEL LIKE you are going to be on your arse at any moment. This forces newbies to get used to the idea that your tires mostly WONT drop you on the road. But um yeah YMMV in the wet. It took me months to learn to trust my Michelins.

Shot. Would those tires suit commuting and touring better than something like the PR2's ?

After the fun I had with the shitkos (Read: Slipping everywhere) I replaced my tyres.

I upgraded to the Pirelli Sport Demons

Amazing tyres, lasted alright and had good grip in the wet and dry.

Then I upgraded to Conti Road Attack 2

SOO MUCH BETTER!!!

I wont be going back to the Pirelli....

So would the PR2's be the best tyre for commuting or is there another tyre that is better again?

So would the PR2's be the best tyre for commuting or is there another tyre that is better again?Any of the Michelins are awesome tires, but the PR2 is widely respected as the rain/road/commute/tour tire, whereas the Pilot Power/Pure is more performance oriented.
