Sorry if this is the wrong place, but a good friend has had a shitty evening.

After a rockin weekend at Tussock Buster, he got home last night, chained up his RMZ in the garage next to the KTM, then hit the hay.

He came home from work today to find the garage door jimmied open and BOTH bikes gone.
Marks on the floor from them dragging the chained RMZ out and it was a BIG chain.

I'll update later with more details (if he doesn't) as I can't remember the details on the bikes, but he lives in Wilton, has only been there for a few weeks now so it's gotta be someone who has seen him recently.....

Here are a couple of pics, the RMZ with the graphics is fairly obvious if they leave them on...

and

235509

He's motor_mayhem (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php/25610-motor_mayhem) on here, so you can contact him direct!

See if he can supply us a vin number, and I'll let all of the Suzuki dealrs know, and ask them to keep an eye out for any drongo wanting bits for it.

Will do, he's in a bit of a state tonight, but I've texted him for more info when his head's a bit clearer.

As soon as I get some I'll hit this thread with them!

stink, that sucks - well it may suck, it would depend on ones insurance policy, personally i would be quite pissed off at someone breaking into my house but my insurance would get me a lot nicer bike

ohh shit. My heart sunk. Guarantee it's the same folk that stole my motard and my neighbor's 17s (huntindon St) my mates Subaru (pembroke road). There's a suzuki Ignis which has had rims stolen from it... twice this year (Orangi Kaupapa rd). The cops need to do something about these cunts. It's ludacris how much shit gets stolen in this area. I spoke to a local guy (dirtbike rider too) who was sure the thief is the son of a woman who lived... (PM sent). He has multiple convictions and was living in a car on her property when i lived up there.

Feel for ya man, so sorry to hear this

Kezza... what was he doing with them? Just selling them on?

Very sorry to hear this. It's a terrible feeling.

It's time to set up a sting.

Damn bastards, no doubt both will be stripped of identifying markings and used to thrash illegally around some local forest until they blow up, further ruining our off-roading reputation.

Yeah my bike is insured and if nicked now, I'd probably get a nice shiny new one, but how long before the pricks come back to get the replacement bike? Not to mention if the 2nd bike went walkies, I'm pretty sure the insurance company wouldn't be so keen on offering me further cover.

So I am guessing the neigbours saw nothing, the postie saw nothing, the local yobo is blind... sadly they do this, and manage to get away with it... you guys are bigger and better than this... don't let these people take our stuff, invade our space, or make our kids scared.

Angry is a understatement, I am sick of this happening to good blokes that work hard for there boyz toys... nag, ring... the police constantly, drop flyers (pics of the bike with a unknown cell number, $30 for a new number and sim is nothing)... reason, so they can't ring you (the barstards).

We are trained 12 sec rule... keep ya eyes peeled for anything suspicious all the time.

Problem is mate...if you 'go to work on the rider', you may be 'working' on an innocent party.

I'm in Ngaio and will keep an eye out for bikes that look like those details provided - which street was our scuzzbucket friend inhabiting? I do a few jobs in Northland and can take a different road to it through Wilton from my place . Any quickly distinguishable marks that can be seen as a fast ID? (assuming these wankstains have the IQ to take the numbers and stickers off)

Every Suzuki dealership in NZ has now been emailed both the VIN number, and the pic of the RMZ.

Get hold of TSS and ask them to do the same with the KTM.

Thanks for all the help guys (and Shaz), it is most appreciated.

Unfortuately I think I have to resign myself to that I am not going to see either bike again. Still dealing with all the insurance stuff, coping with the fact that the KTM was probably under insured as I bought it with reg on hold and got it up to WOF state myself with a bit of extra money ($1k+) and time. If anyone wants the list of unique identifiers for either bike, let me know and I will pm them to you - would hate to think the crims read this stuff and use it as a guide of what to hide on the bike.

Damn... that is one of the issues with this kind of theft, once they know you have toys in the garage, they can be pretty confident that anything that was nicked will be replaced. So they just give it enough time for the insurance to pay out and then come back for the replacements.

30th June 2011, 17:47
Would covertly advertising in the 'Bikes wanted' section of the Newspaper-TM etc for a Bike (s) similar to what was stolen be a good start ? Nothing to lose and it may lure the pricks out of the wwodwork (?) , especially if you mentioned you were a cash buyer .....

That's probably been covered but it's something I'd definitely consider.

Sympathies to all concerned btw...I'll keep my eyes peeled .

Do you own or rent? If you own I can give you some help hardening your gge door so as to make it very difficult to get open - I did it for a mate of mine in tawa with the same problem

If they jimmied the sides of the roller door open the thing to get when replacing it is the deep channel version - the gge installers will know what it is.

pm me if you want a hand
