So the wellington bandit(1998 for 2.9k) might not happen because that would mean riding a bike i've never ridden from wellington to whangarei on a tightish timeline which a few other unfavourable variables.

On the other hand, i am looking at some bikes in auckland around the same price range

1994 kawasaki balius 43,400km for 3grand
1994 Suzuki bandit 20,500km for 3.1grand
1996 Honda Hornet 28,950km for between 3-4

What are your thoughts?
The more i think about it the more i think the ride from wellington to whangarei is flawed.

The flaw is in the direction ... or not

The flaw is in the direction ... or not

understood, but certain factors at this point and time are not exchangeable, sadly.

Hi Alex,

how far are you from getting your full license?

If that gn250 is still sweet then I reckon you just grin and bear it until then.

I know it seems like an eternity to wait but the step up from any 250 to a 400+ is going to be bigger than gn250 -> IL4 250.

ejk - Pretty choice but didnt finish work till late, already sold :(. Just missed out on a similar hornet not so long ago that i had the opportunity to ride while i was in auckland, a dream. Wonderful machines.

Grasshopperus - I hear what you're saying, and it painfully makes sense. I can get my restricted at the start of may. Surely you can understand my fervent want of another bike though. Just got into them last year after having enough money to purchase my first, and the obsession has just snowballed.

I'm sure there will be lots more Hornet's for sale on TM.

Do you get out on many rides Alex? I know your only on a learners but have you done some riding of the roads outside of Whangarei?

Grant - Occassionally, rode to Auckland a few weeks ago(cold), and during summer out to nguguru, tutukaka and the like.
The GN isnt very tops for anything above 80kmph(sits on about 9grand for 100k and red lines not so long after that) so not a very good one for long distances. Which is why I've been wanting to get a new bike. Not very smooth at the top end. Brilliant commuter by all means though.
