I would like to know your views on Biaggi's jump start and then been Black Flagged because of it.
Even though he did come to a complete stop once he realised that he had jumped the gun before the race had started and then a few laps later was shown the black Flag because of it got me thinking to why didn't they either make him do a ride through penality or deduct his time at the end of the race to which he was still allowed to finish the race.
Your thoughts?.

my understanding was he was blackflagged because he didnt do a ride through penalty. Although the comentary didnt make that clear.
Tough as he didnt gain an advantage but thems the rules

They're a bit tougher on jump starts at that level, after being advised that he needed to come in for a ride through because of his jump at the start they give a certain amount of laps (3 I think) to serve the penalty. Mr " I'm better than the rest" ignored the rules and was dealt with according to the rules.

Tough for sure, buts thems the rules.

He was Black Flagged due to not performing his ride through penalty.

Let's read the rule book:

1.19.14
...
Any rider who anticipates the start will be required to carry
out the ride through Procedure described under article 1.20.
Anticipation of the start is defined by the motorcycle moving
forward when the red lights are on. The Race Direction will
decide if a penalty will be imposed and must arrange for the
team to be notified of such penalty before the end of the
fourth lap.

1.20
...
After notification has been made to the team, a yellow board
(100cm horizontal X 80 cm vertical) displaying the rider’s number
(black colour) will be shown at the finish line and the information
will also be displayed on the time keeping monitors.
Failure by the relevant rider to ride through, having been shown the
board 5 times, will result in that rider being shown the black flag.
In the case where the organisation has been unable to carry out
the ride through penalty before the end of the race, the relevant
rider will be inflicted with a time penalty of 20 seconds.

Agree Tony - But no, not tough. Biaggi is just a jumped up little fag or atleast he appears to be from what I have seen over the years.

He deserved to get the beats over how he was dealing with Melandri. Was nice to see him have a shit weekend - hope it continues that way too.

Well if thats the Rules on jumps starts and Biaggi persists on ignoring the rules then Good on them for Black Flagging him. Regardless of what you may think of the Rules they are there and must be abide by all Riders competiting. Those who break them can suffer the consequences.
Not very proffessional of him.
Go Checa!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Actually that is a fair point - he'd have had a clear start without any opponents for 3 or more laps and possibly gotten a good enough jump to end up in the points even after a drive through. Plus it would mess with the other riders minds!

I like your style sir. :woohoo:

Probably better for his sponsors that he didnt do the ride through, he was getting way more airtime each lap he stayed out, if he had done the ride through and gone to last place they would have forgotten all about him, probably only cost him 2 or 3 points

Biaggi said he didn't see the board telling him to do the ride through.

Then again, he said he didn't see Milandri in qualifying even though Milandri said Biaggi looked right at him.

Maybe Biaggi needs to see an optician?

at riders briefing at pmcc round a few years back we were told 10sec penalty for jumping start, few guys thought it would be a great idea to just not slow down from the warm up lap and take the penalty

You would think at that level of competition , it would be pretty simple to communicate the message to the riders team & show the rider a pit in signal on their own board. Showing a small black coloured board out on the front straight at some random location is damm hard to see at speed & doubly hard if you are amongst a pack of bikes fighting for a position.

One thing you do check most laps though is your own board, & it it said PIT, then..............

Reminds me of a funny story Glen, Was at a Manfeild meet in the 70's and in the heat of a first lap dash I ran off at the hairpin,Pissed, I waited till the leader came around, (Dave Hissy as it happens) tucked in behind and did the rest of the race. Finished 2nd and got the prizemoney !!!! No one said a thing ...... or me, LOL .

Pretty sure they did just that. Or was I thinking of De Angelis in Moto 2... Saw them try to nitify their rider in one of the races
