Do any leathers come with hard back armour in the jackets or due to cost/size etc do they only use the soft stuff?

Dunno how many jackets come with some, but neither of mine did. So I've now bought two of these, one for my jacket one for my old/pillion jacket:

Not overly expensive, padding doesn't extend down as far as I would like but a hell of a lot better than a thin piece of foam.
You can probably get them from your local bike shop (I got one at motorad Vivian Street) or Quasievil stocks them too I believe.
I have a full back protector as well, but I find I only wear it when going to the track or for extended rides - not for commuting, trips in to town etc. So IMO adding it to my jackets is a pretty cheap way to potentially save a huge amount of pain.

The problem with Back Protectors in Jackets (not the foam as they are NOT back protectors) is the back protector needs to cover the coccyx, the Jackets are not long enough to cover this critical area.
A proper back protector will hang out the bottom of the Jacket.
Buy a Jacket and buy a seperate proper back protector.
yes we do have them, we only carry KNOX as its the best you can buy, period.
they start at $349 refer to www.qmoto.co.nz for a looky if you like.

I cant speak for the Dianese brand all I can say is that Im not aware of a back protector that has the same level of features as the KNOX ones, KNOX invented Back Protectors and are still the market leaders in the body protection industry.

I thought Barry was the man?
"A little-known piece of trivia is that Sheene invented the motorcycle back protector, with a prototype model he made himself out of old helmet visors, arranged so they could curve in one direction, but not the other. Sheene gave the prototype along with all rights to the Italian company Dainese - they and other companies have manufactured back protectors since then."
