Hey guys. Been riding everyday since I got my bike and have been forced to lift up my visor when ever i come to a stop. Even breathing through my nose causes fogging. I then have to wait till im doing at least 30km/h before i can completely close it. I have done a basic search and found out about pinlock antifog visors. Just wanting to know some things.

Are they as high quality as the visor already on the helmet. May seem like a silly question but i didnt get the cheapest of the cheap helmet so i would hate to get a visor that helps with anti fog but isnt as strong.

Also. Where would i find a pinlock visor for the VCAN helmet. The one that was recently on special at motomail. Oh and looks like ill need a replacement visor soon regardless. Took something to the visor last night while riding behind a truck. There is now a tiny little scratch on the inside that hasnt quite gone all the way though. Is perfectly fine for noe. but if it cracks that easy can see me needing to know where replacements are availible.

I have no idea about otherlids but my shoei fogged even if it looked like cooling down, the pinlock workes wonders, you can fit the insert to any visor that its made for.I have ridden in everything nature can toss at ya snow/rain and no fogging

I fitted the Shoei Pinlock insert into my Shark visor and it worked fantastically.
Took about 20 minutes to mark where I wanted it, then drill (gently, with a blunt drill), pop the pins in and then the insert slips in between them.

Effectively it is like double glazing your visor.
Will be doing it to my new helmet tomorrow morning.

Now you got it.

Can also get a "Fog City" insert that is sticky and goos to the inside of your visor. After a while mine went opaque.
The Shoei Insert is by far superior. Go into the bike shop and ask to look at one and you'll see what it is about. Comes with the insert and a pair of pins in the packet.

May seem like a silly question but i didnt get the cheapest of the cheap helmet so i would hate to get a visor that helps with anti fog but isnt as strong. It could be a 24 carat gold plated visor on a solid gold helmet and I'd still fit a pinlock. The various creams etc are crap, get a pinlock.

+1. Best money ever spent on a helmet.

It's both. I have a few shoei helmets, and the multitec comes with two pinlock capable visors (clear and light tint), and a pinlock insert.

You can also buy the pinlock insert and pins separately to put into any visor, but I'd prefer the factory ones, as you need to get the holes right, otherwise the insert doesn't sit properly.

pinlock it is then. cause was really annoying to have every part of my bodt nic and warm at 7:30am on the bridge but my face being numb cause my visor was all the way up. ive discovered its either all the way up or all the way down and doing 60km/h+ to be without fog. which sucks when traffic ranges from 20km and 80km and the 30 cars in front have banded together and all sit to close to the centre line making lane splitting very difficult/not possible.

Just ring the locals and find someone who'll drill your existing visor. I had both of my Shoei ones done a while back, no issues. Cheap enough too.

The problem is there are no pinlocks that are designed for my helmet. Checked the pinlock website and my brand helmet isnt on the list so would need a visor that is pinlock capable and also will fit my helmet. so essentially i need a genreric style visor that will fit and accept pinlock.

As long as the visor is larger than the pinlock, holes are drilled in the visor (any visor) and the pins inserted, then you attached the insert.

The important thing is getting the holes exactly correct, otherwise the insert doesn't fit snugly

Ah ok. Will look into it more. To bad the pinlocks dont tint cause i cant wear sunglasses with my helmet cause the fog up 10x faster than the visor.

Look for a tinted visor for your helmet... I used tinted visors far more than clear.
