Got some time off so am determined to get some mileage up on the bike.

Went out today and had a few new firsts.

45km/h (finally got the wind cooling effect!)
3rd gear :woohoo:
First clean gear change
First challenging corner
First hand cramp (throttle)
First blister (thumb, clutch side)

I actually got the blister yesterday so wore the gloves today and got cramp in the throttle hand instead....must be some of the newbie death grip there still.

well done, keep it up.

Keep the gloves on. God forbid it happens but even a little road rash on the hands make the bike hard to pick up - aside from the other affects. Learn that on a bicycle. Protect that skin. My ATGATT priorities seem to go Helmit (law), Gloves, then the rest. As the tenancy is to put your hands out when you fall I like them protected plus when your speed gets up insects hitting the hands hurt.

Agreed oneofsix. Will be using the gloves from now on. Now that I'm actually going faster than walking speed.:scooter:

Up to the grand total of 15kms The Baron. But you know, getting there. Want to try for the hundred during my time off.

Really? That's impressive! How do you get so much ride time in?

Is that Kph or actual kilometers?

Hey, nothing wrong with going at walking speed  good practice for when you are in slow moving traffic

We have a courtyard/vehicle disposal area outside the front of our house. I use it to practice slow riding and U-turns on both directions. Made one hell of a difference when I went to sit my restricted.

 yes it does! I practised that a lot before my tests too.

I did a riding thing ages ago and they made us "race" to see who could go the slowest with both feet up, without stalling, using only the clutch, no throttle allowed. Was challenging.

I am proud to say that I could most likely travel 5 meters. Before I decide that it needs MOAR POWA

Yes I shall continue my slow practice. Have read the posts on peoples restricted test experiences. Have to be good at u-turns.

When learning slow speed - as soon as you are moving, both feet should be on the pegs. No duck waddling as that prevents you from learning proper slow speed balance.

Well, I'm happy to have got out of my cul-de-sac. My tiny street network consists of three cul-de-sacs, two carparks, two school entrances, one school crossing, one insanely unbalanced roundabout, two steep hills, a sport centre, a retirement home, one hair pin like corner, and a bumper-to-bumper rush hour jam at 3.15pm weekdays. Rush hour due to there being only one way out of the area.

This is about 1km square we are talking about! The only thing it lacks is a straight longer than 20 metres. So slow speed practice, not a problem! It's getting above 40kms/hr that I'm having issues with. Anyway, get the hill start sorted and I can get out of here!
