don't think so. You can take 22 south & then head inland to Ngaruawahia, past Waingaro hot pools, then loop back around thru Whatawhata to Raglan

It's about 50/50.
Probably 10km or so gravel.

It has two places that are gravel, neather of them are very long and thay are "easy" to ride over, not like the other side of Raglen, thats about 30+ks and twisty as hell. Cant wate till thay seal it! Watch for slips, and moss on corners. Have fun, its one of the best roads out that way.

Leave nice gravel roads alone. You got lots of sealed ones, not many gravel ones left.

And soon as they seal it , it will become infested with camper vans, Mr Plod and dozy tourists.

More like 3km of dirt road and usually in pretty good nick - the tar seal on either side of the dirt is primo too.
Only go ngarawahia way if it's real muddy.

Himmmm, you have a point there, ok, I'll leave your road alone, and the rally is run on that road too. I had a bit of fun last time I went down it, who knew a Bandit could be used as a motocrosser? :devil2:

Far too many good gravel roads are being sealed. There's nothing more satisfying than cruising a gravel road on a large road bike.

At the moment that piece of road has some serious road works going on and is a bit rough where they are putting the drainage in but still plenty ridable on anything. Gravel is your friend honest....:)

Yeah, once that bit is sealed there will only be about 1km left, then that will go - and you sports bike riders will have another road to ride....and I'll have one less....

Me too... Eventually we'll have to put 17" wheels on our tralies and ride around the outside of GSXR1000's on the tight twisty roads just to get our jollies. Maybe we could form a lobby group to bring back gravel roads. There will be me, Cary, Motu and Ixion anyone else want to join the "give back the dirt" campaign?

That is a nice piece of gravel road, whats left of it but it will also be an awesome bit of seal when finished. I can se there will be plenty of KB runs down that way to the raglan pub when it's done. Especially in summer. I don't think there is a better place to perv than from the verandah of the Raglan pub in summer. :o

The last gravel road excursion I did (probably 30 km or more) deposited about half a cupful of gravel in various parts of my fairing...:blank:

I think maybe judicious drilling of some large 'gravel exit ports' is required.

Put my name down for "rolling back the seal".

I think I've got a pickaxe in the garage somewhere. And I've got my eye on a '01 XT600.. <_<
