View Full Version : Finally she is home

Good things are worth waiting for.

We arrived at Colemans this morning just as the staff were wheeling the bikes out for the day :D Not that I was impatient or anything  Walked in and feast my eyes on the most lovely thang  Much more betterer than I remembered and looking very smart with her new colour matched Givi screen installed. In fact I could hardly drag my eyes off her, once I swung my leg over that was it, I did not think I would be able to get off to sign some paper work

Small problem was discovered, my new and improved boots prevented me from getting my toes under the gear lever :pinch: However, I can almost, flat foot it so if I had had my old boots I could have ridden away, but, I didn't... A rumage was had and it was discovered that the link rod off a B King fitted at a pinch, but the lever was a bit high  But It would have got me home. Then we found that one off the 1200 Bandit fit like it was meant to be :D I opted to put a set of bar risers on her too, to improve my riding attitude a bit.

Spent a few minutes filling out paperwork and I was good to go. True to word the bike came with a new WOF, 6 months rego and a full tank of gas, they also fit a new front tyre for me as the one on it was still legal, but needed replacing soon.

The bike was wheeled down the ramp for me and I was OFF! I opted to take a bit of a roundabout way home for some reason. I went Albany, Riverhead/Coatesville/Peak Road onto SH16 to Wellsford. Rottten shits have the road dug up at KKK and they were grading and sraying it. My bike is no longer showroom condition, it is covered in roadworks sploodge

From Wellsford Puhoi looked like a good place to stop for lunch, them burgers are so yummy. Then a quick spin down to Edbears to show off and back home again.

Needless to say I love the bike. it fits like a glove, my knees tuck up to the tank perfectly, the whole package just feels right

She is limber and very light. Her ability to flick through corners is "laugh out loud in your helmet" good. I dont think it would take very much effort to have the front wheel off the ground :shit: She seems to have a bit of go in her. I went on a "private/closed" road for part of the way home, and had a bit of a play, I managed 130 in 3rd and still had some more, but I had to slow for a corner. I imagine that she could well produce similar results on the open road :pinch: I will have to be careful I think

She has plenty of torque, and will pull away in top no problem at all. She loves working hard and has really good brakes, though I do have to do some minor adjustments to lever position.

A new WOF!, I believe dealers have to give one if its to old, I had to laugh when a dealer made a big song and dance about a new WOF, when in fact the shop legally had to put a new one on, When I pointed this out to him he had nothing else to make the bike sparkle

congrats on a awsome bike, enjoy

"I'm not trying to tell you how to suck eggs, but be careful bedding into your new ride.

Thanks, and I hear you. I have been riding for a long time now, I got my "full" in 1976, I have had some breaks away, but have ridden all sorts of bikes over the years.

I am not fool hardy by any means, and sadly this baby will be a commuter for the most part, so I will make sure I enjoy any time I get off the beaten track so to speak.

I am what defines nana, and I embrace it with my whole being. I love being out on 2 wheels, and value my life too much to take risks that might compromise it. I have a wonderful husband an 5 great kids that I am not in a hurry to leave anytime soon.

Yes I will be carefull, and yes I will give it berries and have a bit of fun mystyles, at every opportunity I get.

Lovely looking machine. It looks quite unique too with what looks like a frame slider behind the headstock / triples. The blue is quite distinctive. You have to double take to realise it is a bandit. It's personalised, just as a bike should be. The Givi screen is a great match.

Now that's just the bike which should be ridden down to Mt Maunganui on next Sunday, 10th April, for the TECT Trust Rescue Helicopter run. Gather at from 11.00 am in Nikau St, Mt Maunganui, leave on the run at 12.00 mid-day for a scenic tour of Mt Maunganui and Tauranga.

11.00 am, that gives you plenty of time to leave at 7.30 am, to stop off at Browneys just 6 km passed Katikati for a late breakfast. (I'm assuming you're on the north side of the coat hanger)

You could be leaving by 1.30 pm for a ride back over the Kaimais, afternoon tea at the Okoroire Pub, up SH27, over through Tahuna, and home by 5.00.

What a figgen pleasure she is to ride. Had to drop back a bit on the way home today, I had fuel guage flashing shit happening, and I dont know how far she goes without running out. I am not used to these new fandangled fuel gauges, give me a reserve tank any day :pinch: I am going to have to do some playing and take a litre or 3 of gas with me to find out exactly what she will do

My grin seems to be permanent! The buzz is embraced and mmmmmmmmMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm...

I have my gear all laid out for the morning. I have packed my spare BIG gloves in case the hand specialist makes me a brace that I cant wear in my normal gloves :pinch: I bought a couple of 3M command hooks to take to work so I can hang my gear up. The pack is on the rack, my shoes and my coat hangers are in there, there is room for my lunch box and drink :baby: I have pinched Maha's disk lock, best I remember to go and get the keys too

Oh, Ed, this bike is dreamy stuff. I will be planning to ride all weathers.

I had to leave very early this morning as I had to go and see a hand specialist for my finger. I had no idea really where there were, and spent about 20 mins doing lots of low speed manouvers, with the sun in my eyes to boot. No problems at all!

Gassed up on the way home - I almost took the very long way home but might leave that for Wednesday night. SH17/Coatesville Riverhead/SH16/Woodcocks, I should be home by dark :D

Had a laugh out loud moment on the way to work this morning. My commute starts in a 50 area, that becomes a 60 area, that becomes an 80 area and then to 100.

I was pootling along in the 60 zone and thought I was going a bit fast :innocent: and looked down at the clock, nope was fine :sunny:

So I opened the throttle a bit more and headed out to the 80 area. OK, so now I really think I am going a bit quick and glance down just over 90 on the clock (digital btw), that was confusing. Then it friggen dawned on me. We had adjusted the clock for daylight savings before I left and had obviously put the speedo/trip metre into MPH!

I had launched myself out of town in a hell of a hurry  Thank goodness there was no plod around, not sure he would have believed that story somehow :pinch:

Am enjoying my commute. Had the blustery/squally weather on the way home tonight, at times so bad I simply had to laugh at myself. I have a perfectly great, all the bells and whistles car, and I choose this method of transport :scooter:

Sounds a bit suss... I'll believe you, this time... :innocent:

I am sitting here, the weather outside is horrible. Cold, blowing a gale and driving rain. I am planning extra layers, my thermal linings back in my pants and some more cat crap on my visor. There must be something wrong with me :shit:

There shouldn't be much if any rain tomorrow but it may be rather chilly, http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forecast.php?type=rain&region=nzni&noofdays=7 thankfully I went shopping at the Icebreaker outlet shop last time I was out near the airport - merino that doesn't itch!

The oxford chillout gear works really well for stopping the wind coming though.

Yeah, it was a bit cool coming home tonight, I was warm as toast at work and elected not to put on my tights, neck warmer, blah, blah.

I am a big fan of merino, I wear it summer and winter. And yes, the warm stuff will be fully engaged tomorrow for sure.

I have this dumb brace thing on my finger now. I am using my HUGE winter glubbs that I usually wear over my gloves. Problem is they are not warm  I am about to go hunt out the winter woolie gloves to see it they fit over the brace. Failing that, I am going braceless :D

Thanks. I have been riding her all week, and have had an absolute ball!

It gets cold enough for this gal, I am doing an early morning commute and that will start in sub zero temps if last winter is anything to go by.

I'm planning to finally put heated grips on my bike this winter as a birthday present to my self

I bought 8 sets of these last year. I bought a couple early in the year and they worked so well I grabbed another 6.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Motorcycle-Heated-Grip-Pads-Heaters-MX-Enduro-Road-Bike-/260720754954?pt=AU_Motorcycle_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cb42b010a#ht_2758wt_905

With postage ended up less than $10 each and we have fitted them to a few of our bikes. We changed the switch to a fully waterproof one but they worked fine. I still have a spare set and will be fitting that to my TDM tomorrow. The hardest part for me is figuring out where to put the switch so it is easy to reach with gloves on.

DualStar also do a similar kit with 2 levels of heat but at closer to $US30. A rheostat from DSE or Jaycar can also be fitted giving variable heat.

Cheers

Yeah, heated handgrips are the best! Nothing worse than numb hands.
I found with my dodgy thumb that the heated handgrips helped with the pain too, the warmth kept it down to a dull ache instead of the usual loud roar of pain
