View Full Version : Life is great

There is so much doom and gloom at times that it can be quite depressing. It is those little moments in life that are just there for an instant and then gone the next. Those times where you feel really happy, or when someone has made your day and know that life is great. So I thought I'd share my moment......

Today I woke up to find that my two children had snuck into bed with me during the night. I looked at their peaceful sleeping faces, and listened to their little snores and it made me think just how much I loved them and how there was nowhere in the world that I'd rather be at that moment than with them curled up in bed.....

"You must spread..." Awwww... isn't that a great moment? My kids are a bit big for that, but they still love a cuddle from their Dad!

Yup - its all good really. Despite all the crappy things of late that generally depress everyone, recessions, earthquakes, etc the fact is we as a species have never been warmer or as well fed as we are right now. Factor in the love of your family and the value of stuuf like that rather than the short term pleasure a big TV brings and your realise that life aint too bad really.

Last night - I tightened up grandson #1's BMX seat showing him how to select the right spanner and where they were kept, sat granson #2 on a bike so his mum could take a piccy of him and the class mascot that he got to bring home (I even made a wee helmet for the mascot and popped Vickis open face on #2) then had a quick chat with #1 about assignment layout and gave him some stuff to read as research before Vicki and I headed off to the gym for a quick workout. Laughed my arse off when she slid off a bosu (slippery pants) and we were both in stitches by the time she finished with her ab's.

Pretty good evening really and nothing special until you look around. There were no tanks in our street, no roaming gangs of thugs, the shops were full of stuff to eat and the showers hot when we finished.....

Lifes good...

There is a great deal to be thankful for. I can surf when I want and am fairly free and easy rider

Gratitude is hard to come by nowadays.

Yes indeed, great post and a great thread,

You just have to 'have life', get out there and grab it large. I am the luckiest man alove, a brilliant wife, fantastic son, I am privaledged to know so many people through biking,, I have my music, health and happiness....and all wrapped up in the most amazing country in the wprld that i felll humbled and lucky to live in.

Yeah, doom and gloom is all around, people spit and scrath and piss ball about over the smallest things (motorcycle politics....what the FUCK is that...!!) but after all is said and done, a smile and a giggle from your kids, a new sunrise, the stars at night, it all says you are alive.

As my mantra says:

I am not afraid to die, but I am terrified of not living....

Peace, health, love and happiness xxxx

Sigh.

When I go to bed tonight I am going to ask the tooth fairy if there is any chance that I can wake up in bed with you tomorrow too! (sounds nice)

I have also asked that your children will still be asleep in their own beds too, snoring away, still lookin cute!

awwwwwww, lubbly!

I'm a glass half full kind of chap & take an almost childish delight in all the good & beautiful things around me. Even when life is kicking me in the guts I'm sneakily happy that I'm here to feel that & look forward to a happier day to balance things out again.

Right, I'm off to the Kingdom Hall for a group hug & a sing a long.:woohoo:

I was asked by the year 10 PE teacher at my kids school if I could go on the school camp this year (I've been on a few) So thinking it might be embarrassing for master 14 asked him over dinner if he would mind me going.. "Aw cool Dad, can I be in your group" he answered... well... it's the little things that tell you you're doing it right. I was pretty chuffed with that response.

Kids are fun eh?Not that long ago my older daughter was caught with a shovel helping her grandad scoop up horse shit from the pen,I commented that would be a neat pic,and ma in law had her camera and grabbed the moment.Best thing was 18yrs later it was on my daughters 21st picture board (a couple of weeks ago),seemed like yesterday she was 2yr old.

Some of the funniest moments in my life were when my kids were toddlers...with their individual personalities developing they used to do and say the funniest things... I really miss that now they are getting older. But I can still look back on those moments and they still bring a smile to my face.

My Daughter is 25, she drops her awesome dog off every morning for me to look after (I work from home) we have breakfast and a coffee, she picks him up every evening.
My 23 yr old son and I live together. We are good mates.
Those magical moments can go on for ever - well it seem like it anyway.

I've told my kids that first one to give me a grandchild is cut out of the will.
I'm way too young to be called grandad.

That is cool! My oldest step son asked me last year to go to the school camp and it was a lovely moment :sunny:

Parents are cool people to hang out with - I go riding with my Dad as often as I can, and I am very happy when he says how well I am riding.

Aye.

My eldest stole my heart the day she was born - at the age of almost 24 she still hasn't given it back.

The precious "cutesy" moments of childhood can be replaced with deeper and more subtle moments of connection, as they become adults.

Amy and her husband both work in our business, and she and I are teamed up half the time. They recently bought their first house - directly across the road from us. Many laugh at our closeness - we love it.

Friday at 4pm is "staff meeting" time at our place. Yesterday at 4 the wife of another employee dropped their three-month old baby boy off, while she went to work. I spent the entire meeting holding this lovely wee chappy. Another wonderful moment - they just keep coming. Yes indeed, life is good...

As for being a grandad - I can't wait.

I never realised just how much fun being a Grandad would be. With little Aston now five and going to school I love the times I have to pick him up frmo school! WE've got him for the weekend as his Mum, (our eldest daughter) and Dad have gone away for their wedding anniversary, (8years).

This morning, although he came in and told me it was time to get up because, "I can see the Sun, Grandpa!" I got up and made him breakfast. As we were going to the lounge he said, "I love you Grandpa!" and gave me a hug!

Yup! Life is great! :sunny:

Word of warning to all those "wishing" to become grandparents, everything nice has a downside! :shit:

You won't notice at first but "time" speeds up tenfold ... before you know it, you have got "OLD"!

(really freeking old!)
