Yer ive always ever ridden two strokes i wouldnt know what a 4's like to race or anything. But there pretty reliable if you maintain them and know what your doing.

Exactly why i don't own one

But i dont see how thats so hard. its simple you just keep things clean. check things regularly. cant go wrong. 2 stoke.twice as nice lol twice of everything. twice the amount of speed. twice the amount of maintanence. etc etc./ put it that way/

Only bad luck I've had with a stink wheel is when I ANNIHILATED the piston and rod in my buddies RG150 at manfield. The piston crown was intact, the rest of the piston was crumbs, all through the case and exhaust. The pipe was just like a big marraca.

Good fun up till that point ha.

yer same here yet again she only cost me 3.2k so meh. its not to bad compared to if i were buying a ninja. but im moving from motoX so it should be cool to learn to get these things sussed. always being into two strokes. but what would i check for when i take this thing out for a spin on sunday? she cold starts first thing so the powervalves are in tact i hope. Its nothing like a RM125 or anything.

nice moderate running to bring it up to temperature (wound right open from cold is their main destroyer) and nice moderate running to wind them down too, don't just kill it when she's red hot.

There's two small covers on the engine, which you remove. Then there's three bolts to retain the power valves, which you remove. Then you pull the powervalves out, and clean them with steelo pads and over cleaner. Then inspect them for signs of cracking around the pin that goes through them (you'll see it), and reassemble and adjust. Will take you about 3 hours the first time, and about an hour every time after that. It's easy to do, don't neglect it.

When you go to see it, see if you can take the expansion chambers off and look at the pistons and bores. Takes about an hour to take them off and put them on again the first time. Scoring on the pistons and they're done, slag on the barrel and they're done too.

Can someone do me a favor and post the measurement from the very top of the fork tube (not including the adjuster) down to the center of the axle hole from an upside down RGV250 fork. Doesn't matter what model or year RGV as long as it is from an USD fork model. I expect (hope) the measurement will be somewhere between 600 and 750mm.
Many thanks in advance.
