9 months later! That family deserve justice, thank goodness he's finally been caught. Wonder how they ended up nabbing him.
From Stuff:
"A 30-year-old Feilding man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Scott Guy.
Mr Guy was shot and killed in his driveway in the early hours of the 8th July last year and police have been investigating the case since.
Police spokeswoman Kim Perks said the man was arrested earlier today and charged with murder.
He has also been charged with arson and criminal damage relating to incidents at the Guys' property in October 2008 and January 2009.
He will appear in Palmerston North District Court tomorrow.
A second man, aged 21, was also arrested and charged with arson and criminal damage, but had not been charged in relation to the murder. He has appeared in Otago District Court.
No one else is being sought for the murder or related offences at this time.
Mr Guy's family have been advised of the arrests but the men's names have not yet been released.
Police said neither the Guy family or Scott's wife Kylee wished to make any comment and have asked for privacy to come to terms with the news. "

I guess everybody likes to think a murderer is not somebody they know, they would prefer to think of them as "a dark and mysterious evil stranger"
Such is human nature.

Wonder how they ended up nabbing him.
I suspect either by doing some work on the earlier crimes in the hope that there would be a link to the murder or possibly the other fella arrested and not charged with the murder may have 'assisted police with their inquiries'.

They have their result. What the Courts / Justice system do with it is a whole other piece of business.

My understanding is that they have known who did it for a while, but have not been able to pin it on him,so something has changed, maybe a witness has come forward??

Well done NZ police! :niceone:
So glad they have caught someone
Hopefully the family can find some closure....poor buggers, nine months would have be an eternity for them.
Now lets hope the slimey lawyers and judges can "actually" hand out justice for a change.

I'm in agreement with Dim-Post (http://dimpost.wordpress.com/2011/04/08/compulsion/)...I think the polis have been watching their suspect for a while and they've managed to provoke him into a mistake via their media announcements.

The NZ police are far better at solving such crimes than most Kiwis would give them credit for.
Well done I'd say.

So...it's the brother in law the police have. His sister's husband.

So the news states... lets hope then 1. they have the right guy 2. If it was him he gets life. I feel for the families... what about the jerk that is appealing the murder of his g/friend that he stabbed to death, lock him up and throw away the key... an appeal is a joke and unnecessary procedure for the family in his case.
Lets hope this guy gets a fair trial and if he IS guilty that he gets the full throttle of the law!

Clayton Weatherspoon? I hope they let him out. Honestly. Just so long as they announce the exact time and place to the public. I guarantee there will be a welcome reception waiting to greet him.

Yup I get that sentiment well and truely ...
what a truely horrific time for the guy family ... my heart goes out to them ... the police must have awesome evidence to have taken this step ... and not just the hearsay of a guy who gets done for other crimes against the family.

There has been a "dark and mysterious evil stranger" lurking around Balwatsit for a few years now, so I've heard!
Be fascinating to know what he gets up to in the wee small hours! :nya:

The look of a guilty man.
I don't care if he was following his lawyers instructions not to look at his family and dont say a word..
If it were me that was standing there and I was innocent of the charge, I would have alot to say.
I wouldn't give a fuck about the lawyer/judge, if I didn't kill anyone and was arrested and charged with murder, the noise made would be very very loud.
As for the other 5-6 charges, they will be related to the murder so yesh, the cops arrested the right man.

Te Farce don't often get it wrong. But when they do, it's spectacular.
Who thought AA Thomas was guilty? Scott Watson? David Bain? David Dougherty?
Let us hope that this doesn't turn out to be one of those ones...this family has gone through enough.

Guilty or not, I tend to agree that were I to be charged when innocent I'd be making a lot of noise about it and producing all the evidence could. I don't think sub-judice applies to an innocent person...

My intuition tells me something is not right with this family, like the ogre Shrek, it appears to be made up of layers!
As the case proceeds and they peel back the layers my guess is it will be full of unexpected surprises!

There is usually a reason for this type of murder so, yes, it will be very interesting as to why he did it, assuming he's guilty of course.... :innocent:

Damn, what an absolutely terrible time for this man's wife, she's lost her brother and now her husband, the father of her children, the man she lays beside every night is accused of murdering her brother....so very sad for all concerned.

Have you thought that Scott Guy may 'bitched slapped' his wife around?
As per the signs on the house?
The murder accused may have just shot dead a wife beater.
All conjecture at this stage but surely the reason as to why he was shot in the first place had something to do with the piant job ob the house?

Meh.
I don't see the point of all this speculation, we are going to get every minute blow by blow detail of the court case and police inquiry daily from around 05:30 until well after midnight. It will be on tv the radio, newspapers, will fill hours and hours of talkback and internet forum time.
The women's mags will have heart wrenching articles on the family's pain, and the fashions they prefer, and meanwhile Scott's dad seems intent on making a statement to the media at any opportunity.
I'm sure that by the end we will all know who was shagging whom, and who wasn't paying.
I sucks that Scott got shot and I hope the killer gets harsh justice.
