Hey guys, after a bike to put the Mrs on once she moves up from her 250.
I'd be interested in a good quality 400 (particularly a CBR or ZXR) or a 600 of any kind. I'm not after something that hasnt had a WOF in 6 years or whatever, but don't mind considering a bike that needs a little bit of work. So if you have something that went down and you would like to sell it, chuck me a PM.
Otherwise I'm open to ideas. My budget isn't big (the 250 will only sell for 2500-3000 plus a bit more that I could put in) but something you have might just work for me.
Anything in the South Island is possible.

This probably isn't going to help much but my advice (for now) would be that unless she is gaging to get on a bigger bike leave her on the 250. If you push her onto something bigger and heavier before she is ready you might just put her off riding altogether.
After about 20 years of riding my wife has a couple of 250s now, Ninja for commuting and RS for fun, she's had her full for a number of years and has had plenty of larger capacity bikes, like me she just prefers smaller displacement machines, bigger isn't always better.

I've got two 400cc toys, but, I'm in the middle of the north island.

This is a fair point, one I have considered. However she is looking at getting into some track riding and the older 250s don't really cut it as a half road, half track bike. High revving and old age tend to go hand in hand with breakdowns and engine work. The 400s seem to handle it better and don't really feel much bigger than the 250s. But you're right, the extra power isnt really necessary. Put is this way, if the 250 doesnt sell for the right price, we won't be in any hurry to change.

I just sold a VFR400NC30 that would have worked well. I also have a Honda Bros 650 twin low km's and low price. There is one of these racing. I bought it because of it's low km's thinking of turning it into a race bike. I'd still like to do that but am in the middle of building up a 88 CBR600.
The Bros is mint. And in your price range. Yes I'm in Auckland but it would make one hell of a road trip. I put two new tyres on it as well. PM if interested.
