Yip will be there. Ruakaka's about 30kms south of Whangarei or 1.5hrs from Auckland.

just really had a look at this...

looks like it has some interesting expert sections including a flying fox to transport your bike over a waterfall!
Did anyone do this last year?

Flying fox over the section doesnt sound very extreme to me... wouldnt it be more of a challenge to ride it.

Does sound like a fairly decent ride though

1 - 2 hours claimed for an A type loop at a trail ride is pretty rare...

The owner of the farm where this ride takes place was 5th overall at the "No Way In Hell Enduro" so he knows whats needed for an extreme section. I didnt ride there last year but riding mates who did said it was very good, well marked and had a very good grading system for degree of difficulty of each track or section from very easy to very hard.

The rain made this the most technically difficult ride I have done but it was also easily one of the best. It was marked out with amazing hill climbs and crazy slippery decents. The rain caused level 3 A sections became 4s and the 4s became diabolical 5s. I didn't get to try the actual extreme enduro loop 5 and 6 sections, I heard a couple of people started up the 5 but backed out. The level 6 start was up an at least 2 story near vertial rock face.
Next year booked in for both days...there is to much stuff to ride in one day!

All other trailrides are namby pamby compared to this one. I can see why Gary Sands did so well at the NWIH with this sort of terrain to practice on.

We left home 6am sat morn got some good rides in before rain the headed out just before rain, got half way through Jurassic and my boy was struggling on the very slippery up hills so headed out through creek to main track, was stuffed at this stage from pushing 2 bikes, stayed sat night in the domain and back out riding on sun had heaps of fun some great tracks and Joshs confidance got better as day went on. Will be back again next year.

This was one of the best rides I've done for a long while, great varried terrain and well orginised. Wasn't able to take full advantage of it as got busted ribs at moment, but will def go back next year, maybe for the two days.

Good work all involved

Unfortunately I had the camera turned off for the most scenic part with the rock formations and was unable to film in the afternoon on the secound loop due to the heavy rain but this should give you an idea of what you missed anyway...click HD and Full Screen.
